My particular FIM WC: Jerez
After Jerez races, "my" scores are:
Code:
Jerez: MotoGP: 250cc: 125cc: Gibernau 1.6 Rolfo 1.5 Simoncelli 1.4 Biaggi 0.75 Puniet 0.75 Jenkner 1.0 Rossi 0.4 Nieto 0.4 Stoner 0.25 Barros 0.25 Porto 0.25 Barbera 0.25 Melandri 0.1 Poggiali 0.1 Bautista 0.1 West 0.1 Dovizioso 0.1 Total: MotoGP: 250cc: 125cc: Gibernau 2.1 Puniet 1.75 Dovizioso 1.5 Rossi 1.9 Rolfo 1.5 Simoncelli 1.4 Biaggi 1.75 Porto 1.1 Locatelli 1.25 Barros 0.4 Pedrosa 1.1 Jenkner 1.0 (Melandri 0.1) Nieto 0.4 Stoner 0.6 (Poggiali 0.25) (Barbera 0.25) (West 0.1) (Bautista 0.1) (P.Nieto 0.1) I'm seeing we are heading towards another season absolutely dominated by Rossi-Gibernau-Biaggi (this time we con't have Capirossi). I'm afraid all the others will be merely numbers. Is Rolfo a WC contender? Are Nieto or the incredible shrinking man Elias going to play some role this season? Locatelli, Jenkner, Stoner have speed and (in different grades) "experience". I'll be surprised in the champion is not one of them. But I'm so often surprised of what is going on 125cc... Happy to see FIM GPs continues to produce interesting races! |

Yes, Dani Filth pointed to the original thread
Some things that I find interesting can be seen in that "classification" were, more at the point, only appear those who have done "something" relevant (no a 7th position, or a second row in grid, for example). Looking with a kind of country-cup, this is the situation (number of riders between parenthesis): Code:
MotoGP: ITA (3) 3.75 SPA (1) 2.1 BRA (1) 0.4 250cc: FRA (1) 1.75 SPA (2) 1.5 ITA (1) 1.5 ARG (1) 1.1 SMA (1) 0.25 AUS (1) 0.1 125cc: ITA (3) 4.1 GER (1) 1.0 AUS (1) 0.6 SPA (3) 0.5 Italy traditionally dominates 125cc, and now they do it in MotoGP as well! Only Italy(7), Spain(6) and (just) Australia(2) have more than one driver in the classifications. In fact, 13 out of 20 are italian or spanish. Probably the single thing I find more shocking is the absence of Japan! Some years ago they flooded 125cc, and they have some good riders in 250cc and even 500cc. Nakano, Ukawa, Abe (and very obviously Katoh) were a strong set of riders. Most of bike manufacturers are japanese, what's going on with riders? Somewhat arbitrarily, I have combined the three categories halving 250cc points and halving two times 125cc to resume in a "general" country-cup: Code:
ITA (7) 5.5 (Rossi, Biaggi, Rolfo, Dovi, Simon, Loca, Mela) SPA (6) 3.0 (Gibernau, Pedrosa, FNieto, Barbe, Baut, PNiet) FRA (1) 0.9 (Puniet) ARG (1) 0.6 (Porto) AUS (2) 0.4 (Stoner, West) BRA (1) 0.4 (Barros) GER (1) 0.25 (Jenkner) SMA (1) 0.1 (Poggiali) |

Pretty much as I'd put it, though I'd have Max, Barros and West higher at Jerez.
I hope Rolfo is a title contender. |
