Qualifying is being run at Talladega for the Aaron's 499. Qualifying takes some time at Talladega, plus looks like the inspection process is jumbling up the qualifying order. So far the top five of 47 after 10 drivers are:
#48-Johnson, Chevy 186.532mph #8-Earnhardt Jr, Chevy 185.913 #2-Wallace, Ford 184.786 #23-Stricklin, Dodge 184.519 #20-Stewart, Pontiac 184.218 #98-Wallace, Chevy 184.129 slowest = #90-Mast, Ford 182.359 NOTES: #4-Skinner slowed after taking the green flag, the motor tightened up and had no oil pressure, so he pulled it in and will have to use a provisional to make the race. |

NASCAR confiscated some parts Friday morning during inspection, including an unapproved fuel cell container, rear spoiler and braces from Kyle Petty’s #45 car; unapproved window braces from Jeff Burton’s #99 car; unapproved rear window braces from Kevin Harivck’s #29 car; a disallowed "underpan" – used to add downforce under the car – on Jerry Nadeau’s #25 car; an unapproved fuel cell vent from Casey Atwood’s #7 car; and unapproved fuel cell filler neck from Brett Bodine’s #11 car
