Will Ralf sort out Toyota?
Trulli says that he already has a good idea whats wrong at toyota, A lack of downforce especially at the rear.
Reading in autosport about Ralf Schumachers driving in Brazil dependant on a perfect set up whilst Montoya prefering to hustle the car around. I wonder will Ralf and Toyota sort themselves out, the performance of the Williams did improve when he returned afterall. |

Mike Gascoyne is the key to sorting Toyota out.
He worked well with both Trulli and Schumacher in the past - and he could well do again. |

Ralf is a very good driver to have in the team though, in terms of being able to help them find the right set-ups. There's no way that the car's handling won't be a big improvement on this year's model (don't be surprised to see them use a simialr design philosophy to Renault, in terms of a low COG and resulatant fast starts), and the engine is already tremendous.
Trulli looks to be well-motivated and has done fairly well in his 2 races for the team so far, and all in all I can see the team really movign forward. A first podium looks very likely, and we can't entirely rule out a first win. |

Until Ralf's off weekend coincides with Jarno's off weekend and the cars qualify on the seventh or eighth row...

Mike Gascoyne is the key as KB says-nothing else!
Without a good (well ballanced!) car, ralf it useless. With a good setup he does very well My thoughts are that the toyota will be quite good next year.Basically they ran out of things to improve on this years car (without completely redesigning the car) |

Ralf has technical input, and there is no doubting Trulli lifted his game in 2004, but Toyota still have two inconsistent drivers on their book. Better than what they've had, but still not a line-up that will challenge for consistent wins... or even podiums...
The only double plus I see for Toyota next year is Gascoyne, who will have full control over the design. It will be interesting to see what he produces. |

The important thing, as mentioned, is the initial design by Gascoyne, and good designs are always quick right out of the box. We will see soon enough if the improvement is substantial at the first test. Jarno and Ralf will have to have something to work with.

With Jarno and Ralf joining Gascoyne, Toyota have surely upped their level for next season considering that they are aiming for even more power on their engines...Ralf's input will surely of great help to sort a small part of the big thing...

This season was always going to be a limited success, but on past form Mike (with the rest of the team) will get a major leap forward next year.
On paper, they have a formidable line up and coupled with the cash ... If the Renault form was anything to go by, they will have regular points by mid next season and the odd podium and then a seriously competitive car in 2006. Last edited by Hugh Jarce; 31 Oct 2004 at 19:00. |

Depends what you mean by sorting Toyota out. Will he improve it, proberbly, but then Trulli's input will help too, will he make them into a front running team? No way!
