MOT Light Cluster question
Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere but having done a search I could find no reference...
My car is due MOT soon and the rear light cluster is cracked. All lights function perfectly, and none of the plastic is missing or chipped, just cracked. Will this pass an MOT or will it need replacing (at a cost of £200)? Thanks in advance for any assistance. |

As long as the correct colour lights are showing and it's secure they can't fail it. By correct colour I mean no white light showing where there should be red or orange. If you have coloured lenses and white light is coming through then you could always change the bulbs to coloured ones, that's what we do.

You can buy repair kits for cracked rear lamp lenses. Also being a real cheapskate I sometimes paint bulbs as you can't buy red ones.

Also - if it does need a new unit get it from a breakers, that won't cost you anywhere near £200.
