Who would be the best UK shop to build replicas of '50s & '60s race cars?
I wanted to recommend to a producer who is in the throes of thinking about filming something that would have '50s and '60s LeMans racers in it. No doubt there will be some scenes where cars get wrinkled. So I was wondering if anyone wants to recommend the top couple of shops in the UK that can make, say a '50s or '60s Ferrari replica that is not Ferrari engined for a reasonable price. Or shops that can make D-type Jags, '50s Maseratis, etc. Iknow there are replicas for the road right now but these have to at least be dimensionally correct if not powered by the purebred engines.

Bob Egginton (ASD in Leeds Castle, Kent) has made various replicas (250F, DBR, started a Vanwall), some were for a film project and looked right with engine with the appropriate number of cylinders, gearbox in the right place etc. but I'm not sure if he is still looking for work - he sometimes posts on either this forum or the Atlas one (unfortunately I forget what name he used) and there is a thread on one of the forums that talks about his 250F replicas.
Certainly a lot cheaper than Lynx etc. Tim Dutton (Bugatti specialist) also made some pre-war replicas for a Ferrari film, again keeping the costs well down. |

If you are still looking for assistance with this project we would be happy to help at Autotune, we make various replicas already and could easily adapt some of our chassis to take other shells if neccessary.
