VE Supercar
Will the VE be on the race track next year? Me thinks there is going to be some serious parity issues with the new body shape change. Anyone heard of what their plan is to keep both cars areo equal? It would of helped if Ford was changing at the same time like the AU and VT.

Heck HMS didn't seem to mind PWR and HSVDT running the superseded VX nor the continuing use of VX engines well past their sell-by date. Make em stick with the VZ!

But AU-VT werent at the same time, AU was a year later.
I wouldnt be surprised to see the VZs carry over for another year whilst the control floorplan gets sorted. |

Why are we assuming a control floorpan will get sorted at all?
Have Ford changed their mind all of a sudden? |

all this parity is a load of poo. let them build a race car and race it and who builds the better car will win the races. not the hybrid 60% ford 30% holden and 10% whatever else cars

I don't know. For example Holden were the ones who were incapable of designing a proper aero kit to start with is that right, so if that was never rectified for example what would that mean?

Whispers from the powder room suggest that the VE project is sitting in a room full of red tape at TEGA HQ, with the Kelvinmonster's minions unable to decide whether to go control chassis or retain the spirit of the existing regulations.
If Unky Kelvin doesnt get his mind made up by mid year... it has been said that the Holden supported teams shall be pushing excrement up hill with an icy pole stick to get each of the existing VY/VZs with the new shape VE by season's start.... The powder room boys and girls down Clayton way have even suggested that Holden may be asked to delay the VE introduction for a season, to match the Ford timelines... Assuming any of this actually happened of course |

If the extra 100mm of wheelbase is the problem, then is waiting for the new Ford actually going to solve it? What is to say that they will make something similar enough as to allow them to keep their separate chassis?

They'd have to wait 2 years...VE launches 3/4 06 - Races 07, Orion Falcon launches 1/4 08 - Races 09

I wonder if the Orion Falcon may be released to the race teams to coincide with its road car launch... would take some doing, but if it was Holden, and the opportunity existed, it would be made to happen (remember VT )

I can imagine Ford wouldnt want details leaking of the cars courtesy of the teams prepping them for racing. |

If this is something that should be done.. it should be done... This is one of the many areas where Ford has fallen over in their racing programs over the year... the Holden teams have the new goodies from the word go, ready to run.. and can get the package up to speed early on... the VT introduction was not perfect, but the motor manufacturer wanted VT in 1998, and put the championships of its lead drivers at risk to get the new model up for that Bathurst It didnt work.. but that doesnt mean they dont deserve points for trying! |

The records show them as using VS/VT's though, not the full VT so i guess thats an interesting scenario as well

I am going to pose some questions for you all to ponder.
Will V8 Supercars remain as it is for next year? Are Holden and Ford happy with the current formula? What is the future of V8 Supercars as we know it? |

Not quite, GTHO. The records mean VS/VT's as they used both vehicles throughout the championship. Craig Lowndes is listed as having had used a VS/VT in 99, as he used the VS for 2 rounds after his accident.
Due to the totally different floorpan, there is no way a VB-VL can be made into a VN-VS, nor a VN-VS into a VT-VZ. This will also mean there is no way a VT-VZ can be made into a new gen V-Car (Commodore). |

...and Commodore VE Omega instead of Executive?
It's not strange enough that the "true blue Aussie car" has a German name from what it was loosely based on, that they must also add the name of the replacement of said German car of which it was based on later. Why not an Australian name? ??? |

Its like the re-signing of teh F1 Concorde agreement... everything could go to hell in a hand basket... There will be a top level motorsport in this country.. what form it takes, who participates etc etc is the bit that has evolved over the years... A team with its own engineering capacity and capability (and they dont all have the ability to construct a car in their own workshop from end to end including engines) will be able to adapt to any regulation change.... Puts a couple of satellite teams at risk quite possibly,.,. |

Heck if they won't do, I'd like to see Mitsubishi do it! Buyers are buying a "trusted" Holden brand name for exactly what reason? They're buying mostly imported models but it's not like people are jumping about at the excellence of GM products worldwide in general, nor is the next gen Australian car particularly local whilst also not better positioned than it's rivals. Puzzling buying behaviour. |
