Time Is Up....It is 11 a.m. In Indianapolis on Carb Day....

The only pick that I am confident in is the "Average Race Speed" compated to everyone else's picks....

The record for the race is 187 mph...Arie set it in his first win at Indy...

Usually, the average speed runs anywhere from about 165-145 mph due to cautions....

Everything else is a toss-up...lots of drivers that I wanted to pick, but didn't have the space to do it....

Fernandez

Sharp

Bruno

Dario and Herta

Scheckter (I think his tide will turn)

It was particularly hard to make the picks for this race....

Enjoy it, ladies and gentlemen....I will be there in Turn 3, loving very minute of it...

You may not envy me if it rains tomorrow, Marcus....the forecast has suddenly become "iffy"....but we deal with that as it comes...

I just hope none of it is severe....an F3 Tornado missed my house by about 150 yards last year after the Race had concluded...

A couple of notes:

I will be generous when it comes to awarding "Milestones" points if the "official" race goes less than 150 laps...

Let's say Hornish wins in a race that goes 130 laps...

If you had Sam as the 150 lap leader, you will get the points, or if you had him at 200 laps...If you had him in both, you'd get 4 points...

Added note:

We're expecting Lazier to get his car fixed in time for the start tomorrow...

If he cannot make the grid, and you had him as "1st Out", I'll obviously award it...

But I'll also award points for the "1st out" that actually takes the grid and races...

Just in case either of those scenarios arises.....

I know you did...I didn't take any offense...

of course, I'll never get an accurate weather forecast here on this weekend anyway...

The weather channel says as high as 50-60%...but scattered...in the afternoon...it is about as specific as they will get...

The local weathercasters are saying so scattered it is really more like 20-30% at best...but no one knows if a scattered shower will pass over the Speedway (duh)....

I'll take a rain poncho...but I hope the noon (local time) start being one hour later doesn't cost us a full 200-lap race...

There have been many occasions in the past when the race got completed, but rain hit within an hour after its conclusion....

I hope it doesn't bite us this year....

Just got done watching the Local delayed broadcast of the Race....

What great action!!!!

Here are your results:

Tim N, stmookey, Flavinha and Daisy all picked Wheldon as the winner...

Tim N, Marcus, stmookey, and Daisy all had 3 points in the Top 5; DrDisque, Flavinha and Jock 25 had 2 points each and Drewdawg and GP Racer had one pick each for 1 point.

READ THIS CLOSELY:

Not only did Jock 25 pick Tony Kanaan for the "Fast Lap," but he missed the speed by only 000.001

Only .001!!!!

Incredible pick, Jock25!!!!

In the Milestones section both Flavinha and Daisy had Hornish at 50 miles and Wheldon at 200 for 4 points.

Marcus had Hornis as well (1 pt.), GP picked Kanaan at 100 laps (1 pt.), Jock 25 had Wheldon at 150, and Tim and stmookey had Wheldon at 200 (1 pt.)

Drewdawg picked Giaffone as the "Best Mover" - 33rd to 15th - 18 spots

stmookey picked Hornish for the "Fall from Grace" - 2nd to 23rd - 21 spots

No one had larry Foyt as "1st Out"

Tim was closest to the Average Speed of the race, which I believe was 159 mph.

Results for the "Race" Portion of the contest:

1.Tim N. - 9 pts.
(tie) stmookey - 9 pts.
(tie) Daisy - 9 pts.
4. Jock 25 - 8 pts.
(tie) Flavinha - 8 pts.
6.Marcus - 5 pts.
7. GP Racer - 3 pts.
(tie) Drewdawg - 3 pts.
9.DrDisque - 2 pts.

Thanks for getting the points in so quickly after the race Tim

Well...I think I got away with that one! Once Hornish was out and I could see Wheldon coming on strong I thought it was all over

Roll on Texas!

(p.s. I would like to say there was much thought and analysis involved in my fastest lap pick but... )

Actually, I did them about 8 hours after the race was over....but I wanted to see the local tape delayed telecast of the race here in Indy before doing all of my tallying....
