minimangler should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
FIA GT Rnd 6: Spa 24 hours 27-29 Jul 2007.

Seeing as its just over a week away, an actual dedicated thread for all the various little threads seemed a good idea? Possibly merge with the entrants threads, or leave that seperate (*shrug*, it isn't for me to decide.)

Anyway, here's the official website: www.total24hours.com

There has been another change to the circuit! The bus stop is now more a wiggle than an actual bus stop, but remains "Chicane aret la Bus" (and i bet I've spelt that all wrong).

I don't think there's much point posting an entry list, it is changing by the second at the moment but main highlights appear to be:
-Jet Alliance running only one car, combining all their drivers.
-BMS are now running two cars (only one had been rumoured) with currently only Jan Charouz added as an extra driver.
-Alphand Adventures have come out to play, and brought Gavin and Berreta and a new livery for their C6R.
-Vitaphone have, as always, assembled a super strong team, Lamy and Van de Poele joing Bartels and Biagi, with '03 champ (with Biagi, incidentally) Mateo Bobbi and Belgian Stephane Lemeret joining car #2
-PK have gone for home support, Belgians Molleken and Bouvy joining Longin and Kumpen in the brightly coloured C5-R.
-Mullen and Sugden both join Ecosse, Mullen with Czechs Enge and Janis, Sugden with Niarchos and super Scot Kirkaldy.
-Maaschen joins Machitski and Edwards at Tech-9
-JMB enter a sole 430 (their Le Mans car?) for Belmondo, Didier De Radigues and two more Belgians.
-BMS Porsche looks strong with Collard, Mallucelli and Lieb
-IMSA looks equally as strong with Lietz, Long and Narac.
-favourites for GT2 must be AF Corse, however, with Muller and Vilander joined by Rui Aguas and Silverstone GT1 winner, Supersub Mika Salo. Car 51 features Bruni, Ortelli and speedy Brazilian Ferrari stalwart Jaime Melo.
-Edil Cris enter just 1 car, with a combo of their standard line ups (I think).
-Thierry Boutsen returns (as a team) running a GT3 Ferrari.
-G2 will feature 4 cars; the Gillet, 2 Moslers and a Porsche 997 Gt2-R (i presume Belcar?)

All of this is regularly changing, but I got all that from Plantelemans.com (cheers).

And that's about it really, as far as I can see, but I stand to be corrected

All that remains is...see you there!

Yeah it looks good, just read in autosport that Konrad's Saleen is trying to make a late entry to Spa and will also compete in all the remaining FIA GT rounds!

Mullen is already in Ecosse lol and it's Maassen

AF Corse with their driver line up look strongest, but this is a Porsche track and as we have seen from Le Mans, Porsche is more reliable, as usual. So I really do not expect to see anything else but a Porsche win here for sure.

Ilias@ticketnet.be states tickets are on the way, and should arrive THIS week.
I quoted the booking ref. and got this reply:

Hello mister Yorath,

Your tickets are on their way, and you will receive them, this week.
Please send us a confirmation by mail, if you won't have received your tickets: your name will be put on a list at the desk.
In that case, you should need our confirmation mail and off course an identity-document.

Best regards,

Ilias

For anyone else waiting.

Cool, a GT2 Porsche coming out ot play! Will be fun to see it its actaully any faster then the GT3 RSR. I remember one of those cars went really well in the rainy ELMS race at Silverstone a few years back.

You tell me? My memory fails me, but I guess I am.

Am I drifting here or does those 2 cars have nothing in common?

EDIT: After some fast reading I found out that the A-Level Porsche is the only of its kind. Now I need to do some more reading an those Belcar GT2's...

Oh for some reason I am not konvinced that Spa is porsche track, I wonder what that reason would be?

Oh I know ferrari won last year out classing porsche, yeah I think that's it.

And dont give me porsche was just testing their new car c*ap, they had 1 year more of development then ferrari, and the driver line ups were all best factory drivers.

Unless Ferraris all crash or it rains like in 2003 I am sure ferrari will win outclassing the porsch like it did all year round

the 997 RSR that ran there last year wasnt even a full 997 RSR it was a slap together of 996 RSR and 997 Cup parts put into a 997 RSR chassis, so comparing that to the full GT2 spec car is just silly.

comparing the laptimes where last year rsr were little faster then 430 and this year 430 are alot faster, one has to wonder that the ones that ran at Spa last year are more or less the same as the ones that are runinig in fia gt and alms this year

Spa suits the Porsche, always has and always will... And if it's wet (which has been predicted) then Porsche really will shine.

Last year they had big problems from the start with the gear box, hence why they could not fight the Ferrari's.

I am pretty sure a Porsche will win the Spa 24 this, it should be faster at Spa and the reliability of the Porsche over 24 hours seems to be better then Ferrari.

the reliability is the same, porsche brackes engines gearboxes etc and so does ferrari,

if it rains porsches are going to have an advantige becouse of the higher mechanical grip due to engine placment, but if its only light rain or anything else then heavy rain ferraris will prove what they have proven the year round that ferrari 430 gt is a faster and over all better, race car then porsche gt3 rsr. simply the higher tire wear rate will cost the porsche the race

anyway what is left is the race and in the end of it one of us will have to admit that the other one is right.
