Two things you need to know about Knockhill. If you can't see the top of the hill from the circuit it means it's raining. If you can see the top of the hill from the circuit it means it's about to rain.

If you are going Saturday you can park next to the circuit. On Sunday you'll get directed to the park and ride a couple of miles away. Getting in is ok but expect a bit of a delay getting out as several thousand people try to file onto a small fleet of double decker buses.

No real recomendations about where to stand, it's all pretty good, and it's not a long walk to go all around the circuit anyhow.

Did I mention the weather

Thanks for that Redshoes, it will also be my first visit to Knockhill in August, and from what I have been told the place is "Mega", I can't wait.

Oh and if the weather is bad then i'll have nice hotel room to go back to, to dry often instead of my little tent as would normally happen at a TOCA meeting.....

Can't wait for Knockhill as it will be my first visit there. It now says on the website there is parking at the circuit for this event as long as you get there early enough.

Two things you need to know about Knockhill. If you can't see the hi... ah, redshoes beat me to it!

I've only been there on trackdays and clubby events, so I dunno what it's like with a crowd. Great access all around the track though, and some brilliant viewing - I seem to remember from one spot in the middle you can see practically the entire track* ...

*weather permitting...

Oh, and take a raincoat.

For some reason I've never to the infield section, although last time I was there there were teams of paintballers fighting it out so perhaps a good job I didn't wander into that.

Take many different kinds of clothes - it can be changeable. I have done meetings where we have to wait to until the mist (Known as the Har on the scottish east coast) rises enough before going out because you can't see enough of the track and then end up roasting in the afternoon. if it is sunny, it can be a little windy and you can end up beetroot.
If you have time, try different places to watch. Duffus Dip for first lap shenanigans, Glenvarigill Chicane for all the leaping over the kerbs (The one make cars can be good here - see them try to go faster and faster through there until they go a teeny bit too fast and then it is bouncy bouncy stuff down the grass on the way out) and the hairpin is good for all the late braking stuff. It is about the most feasible place to pass if you can gain an overlap on the way out and up the hill.
The centre of the track has a banking at the commentary tower and almost all of the track is visible. It's disadvantage is that it is the most exposed to the weather

sounds like the weather is major factor at Knockhill? i've only ever been to Croft and it's only ever rained ther once when i've been. That was back in 2001.

all you need to know about knockihill is that if you can see the top of the hi......acht....

it will either be sunburn or drowning.there is no middle ground at knockhill

For spectating id recommend either the entrance to duffus or the exit of the chicane

The rain thing is a myth - it rains at Brands as much as it rains at the Hill... in fact I've been to Knockhill around 15 times in the last year and a half and it's only rained twice (and neither time did it rain all day...) Being prepared for possible rain is a good idea though - when it rains, it REALLY rains!

Bring suncream - it's a must. Even if the sun doesn't get all the way out, you'll burn very quickly due to the elevation. Have warm clothing of some description too - 90% of the time theres a stiff breeze coming down the valley from the west, again due to the exposed nature and the elevation...

But anyway - hope we get a decent day and that all those coming enjoy their visit to the track.
