Drive of the race

Who did put in the drive of the race:

Giz - Pole and followed it up , until the car stopped

Taz Douglas - Bins it - 2nd Place

Paul Morris - Bins it 1st place

Nick Percat & Oliver Gavin

Jack Perkins

some great drives by a lot of drivers and not the usual suspects

Can't split JW, Chaz and SVG with an honorable mention to Percat.

Agreed. All four deserve a mention, irrespective of the results.

The #1 and #97 cars drove flat-out all day.

Same goes for #33. Such a shame he pranged it. Was destined to get a good result.

While I loved the Chaz / Ford win.

Drive of the race was Whincup by a country mile. 2nd last to the top 10 within 10ish laps and the all or nothing attitude until the very last lap.

Some how I think 25th to 1st, trumps 23rd to 5th.

Chaz.

He had Paul Morris as a co-driver, and that's the biggest handicap one can have.

Giz for me. Fast, accurate and very consistent, plus that record lap. Such a shame the car stopped, not sure whether driver error or failure, but that still doesn't take away the sight of a driver going so hard for so long.

I think you'll find it was driver error followed by car failure.

Difficult to tell from the tv coverage, do I assume a statement has been made? Even so, doesn't change my vote.

Giz

If the stall and starter motor fail didn't happen, he would have spanked JW and Chaz at the end.

But it did. And he didn't.

Runner up, Chaz for the way he handled it. Wasn't the fastest at the end, but led the lap that mattered

No doubt it was Mostert.
Fastest guy on the track, kept his head when Whincup and Lowndes lost theirs and made no race defining mistakes.
On top of that, he had to deal with a terrible co-driver, not only did Morris wall the car, he was slow all weekend long (and from what I took from radio conversations a mile away in terms of feedback)….
Yep, it was probably the safety cars that kept Mostert in the game, but he kept his head even though he knew he had a boat anchor as a co-driver… which says a lot on a day when you’ve got names like Whincup, Lowndes and Ingall all melting down under the pressure.

Interesting to note, Garry Rogers during the red flag was fuming. He said the cars have trouble on the restart. Before the race he re-iterated to all of his drivers not to stall, otherwise they may not be able to restart the car. Now they were on the grid hot, heat soaking and potentially unable to start under their own steam.

Perhaps Teckno should have reminded Giz?

Drive of the race has to go to Mostert, perhaps even to FPR in general. Without the Frosty/Lowndes issue they might have had a 1-2. They ran a good strategic race and managed to roll the dice throughout the day and come up on top.

Was disappointing to see Perkins slip out of the Top10.

Chaz was man of the match though.

I'd like to reconsider this comment. As brilliant as Jamie was blazing through the field in that opening stint. I've watched the last few laps a few times since and then read JW's and Roland's comments after.

Pretty selfish stuff. JW knew he had no chance of winning, so would rather prove to the world how fast he really is instead of backing off. Is something going on is 888 land with team and driver, to ignore your team like that and then have the boss slam you publicly.

What's the points gap 2nd to 5th? Could cost him the championship.

I'll go Chaz. Last to first while dragging The Dude.
