A morning at Apex Circuit Design
Hi all,
As some of you may or may not know/care, I'm really actively trying to persue some form of career in motorsport (despite the ultimate irony of not being able to drive ). Obviously one of my favourite hobbies and interests is circuit design. After various bits of advice from people on this very forum (Huge thank you to those people), i've arranged a morning at Apex where i'll be shown round and speak to some of the people that work in the team. Just wondered if any of you had any questions you wanted to put forward? I'll obviously have a few of my own to ask, and i'm guessing some of them will be handy for others, but if there's any specific, please let me know and i'll do my best. Selby |

Cheers man, much appreciated. It's such a specialised career path that it can almost be a bit alienating, so to have this support is really boosting and motivating Seeing all these designs and creativity is so inspiring, and i'm sure i'm not alone in thinking that way.

I have a question.
Ask them if they have vacancies..... one for you and one for me. I am envious but really pleased for you. Thats a great opportunity. Last edited by Teretonga; 8 Dec 2010 at 21:26. |

Ask then if they've looked at My tracks on Tenths, if they have, have any circuits really jumped out at them, or think any one person as raw talent for circuit design within the realms of the software/pencil & Paper available to them?

Thank you, Teretonga!
haha Guys, I've already contemplated showing off various designs, but I think i'll probably be a little more receptive than that... I don't really want to bowl in there, whip open my laptop and give it "Ok - This is what i've got..." I don't want them thinking that this guys being pushy lol I'm definitely going to talk about this forum as a big inspiration though. Obviously if they request to see it, I won't hesitate to direct them... Selby |

I feel so used....
Nah as I said, i'm literally just going there to see how things operate, the whole process the team goes through.. Should be very interesting! Like I said, anything in particular anyone wants to know, please just ask and i'll do my best to mention it. Selby |

I have a question for you! How did you go about arranging this, and what kind of educational background do you have? I've been pursuing a degree recently but really fancy doing something else, something motorsport related would be a great.
So I'm just wondering, are you starting from the ground up or do you have some experience in this field? |

Judging by the website, it seems there's a few where the plans have been canned at the last minute.
I presume this really has nothing to do with them, and is something beyond their control. Selby |

Probably, given that to built a circuit, quite a few factors are involved besides designing it. Finance, support from authorities, competition from other venues jsut to name a few.
