I have a question for people in the USA.
I am coming from the Netherlands. I have to go to Florida Orlando for some time and i leave in first week of may. Overhere I watch the races on Canal + or RTL 5 they make a pretty good report of the race and not to many commercial breakes. My question is, which channel can I see the races without commercial breakes and is it also a pay channel or public channel. Who can tell me?? Without watching the races i will go crazy... |

In my opinion, the difficulty in viewing F1 in the USA is one of the reasons it is not very popular. To watch F1 in Orlando you will have to subscribe to a cable or satellite TV service, and, probably, specifically subscribe to the Speedvision Channel. Speedvision is not in the group of channels which one usually gets with a basic cable subscription, at least where I live. Alas there will also be commercials, but Speedvision does cover other forms of motor racing, boat racing - - - anything that goes fast. It is easier to watch our CART or IRL series which are shown either on the free Networks (ABC, CBS & NBC) or other channels (ESPN, ESPN 2, FOX Sports)which you will find in the basic cable subscription package.
Enjoy your visit. |

I think it's easy to watch F1, as long as you can get up early, or stay up late. They show every race live as well as qualifying. They do show commercials but not in the last 10- 15 laps. It could be a little better but I think the commentary is good as well as technical information. There is also a bit of humor as well. You do have to remember that the 'greatest country in the world' as about another 100 sports that F1 has to compete with, especially NASCAR (unfortunately). BTW, soccer has just been catching on in the last few years, if that helps you understand. I don't live in Florida so I don't know what they have for cable service. Just watch out for all the old people. |

Will you be staying in a hotel or some other type of accomodations? Some hotels provide free cable service and among these hotels, a few would have Speedvision as part of its package. It just might be possible that you may get a place to stay that has cable and speedvision as one of its channels. In that case, you won't have to worry about your F1!

You will find the F1 coverage very good with alot of good interviews and technical information not only with the top runners but also with the back markers.
As a general rule Americans only like sports dominated by Americans. Hence the IRL! |

ouch! but yes we are guilty as charged....but don't blame the irl on us..thats tonys deal. it's neckcar that dominates the tv numbers here. fox dumped f1 in order to become the neckcar network. and the ratings have justified the move. |
