Not an exciting race in terms of on track action, though there were a few great overtakes. However an intriguing race nonetheless, with teams running offset tyre strategies. 6

6. Great circuit, some nice non-DRS overtakes, but sadly RB dominance back to usual at the front. Not really sure why Ferrari invested in the 'intrigue', to be honest.

Like the circuit, and there were some great overtakes in unusual places, but the race just lacked something......confused strategies coupled with the return of Red Bull dominance, I guess. Gave it a 6 , which is at the lower end of my usual marking.

It kept me amused, but not on the edge of my seat, so 7.

I presume with the race reduced from 57 laps to 53, due to the Albon/Danny Ric red flag, plus the tyre deg and that Leclerc was starting further down the grid than Sainz, putting him on a one stopper could give him a better result. |

I was meaning that the alternative, perhaps 'regular' strategy netted his team mate third.

It did but Sainz also started further up the grid, with potentially less traffic to get through and therefore less tyre ware. I've seen this offset strategy used in IndyCar a lot in similar situations, when a race is shortened. One driver goes on one strategy and their team mate on another. 57 laps as opposed to 53 may not sound a lot but when tyre deg comes into play, it can make all the difference. |

Absorbing rather than exciting, but I gave it a 7.
One of those Grands Prix where you really had to pay attention to get something out of it. |

7. I thought it was good, apart from the complete lack of any jeopardy re the winner. The battle from 2nd to 9th went on for most the race, and was close.
And I love the track. |

I gave it a 7. Easy Max win, but plenty going on behind. Especially if it involved Tsunoda! And great recovery from Sainz

The race was probably a 6, but attending a race is always nice, so that knocks it up to a 7 and then the fact that Suzuka was super organised with well-priced food and the fact I got to ride the big wheel put it up to 8 for me.
