And the runner up is.......?
OK, lets face it, this championship is over. Baring a miracle, Michael is gonna wrap number 5 up even quicker than last year. So why should we watch?
Easy, who'll come second? Will Rubins with the brilliant F2002 blow little Ralf and Monty away and Finish where he really should have last year? Will Ralf claim 'best of the rest' and prove that consistant drives come out on top in the end? Will Monty show why he's the man to take it to Schumacher when the Beemer is quick enough? Will Coultard or Kimi find 4 seconds a lap and become competitive towards the end of season to upset the Williams duo? Or will the dark horse be someone else? You never know what those Renault boys are doing. Could a taste of their 2003 performance snnek through early? What do ya think? |

you guys really are optimists aren't you. I voted Ralf. I'm also optimist, but with a tiny touch of realism, otherwise I'd vote Rubens.

I have faith that Nick Heidfeld will finish runner-up when he will finish on the podium for every race from Austria on.
In all seriousness now... It will definetely be a battle between the Williams boys. I would like to say JPM would do it, but Ralf has been very impressive this year too. I think it would be ample justice if they finished joint runner up. |

I think itll be Rubens, as long as the car doesnt break down he should theoretically be in the top 2 for just about every race. Thats my reckoning anyway.

Montoya to me is the only real opponient that MS will have for the rest of the season. The Williams is not good enough to challenge consistently but I feel JPM will get the most of it.

If Rubens can't manage second in that missile of a car he should do the honorable thing and move over to let someone else have a go. Bad luck not withstanding.
Other than that (if Rubens' bad luck continues) I'd say Montoya - but that's driven more by the heart then the head, since both Williams drivers seen evenly matched, in which case the smart money would be on experience (Ralf). What did I just say? Oh yea... JPM. |

Well I must be quite an optimist, because my vote went to Michael, but let's get real, I think Juan Pablo can finish second in the WDC ahead of his teammate Ralf.

As much as I want Kimi to be 2nd in the final standings, I feel it will be Ralf.

I base it on the fact that he was consistently quicker then Coulthard, Barrichello and his team-mate during the entire season .

Yes, and Ralf was only consistent in bits and pieces. You must have been watching the different season.

Do you want me to go through the entire list of his retirements and the causes of his retirements. Because when I do you will clearly see bad luck and poor realiability hampered his progress during the entire season while Coulthard and Barrichello simply picked up the points that should have been his.
Calais, yes, DC was very close until mid season and not afterwards because he lost his momentum, why?, because he was to inconsistent. And Ralf was consistently faster then JPM in qualifying and races untill the final 3 races. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Monza came quite a while after the midway point of the season, did it not?. |

But the same thing could be said about JPM who suffered most of the teams engine failures (admittedly, he did make two monumental errors in Canada and Monaco). With more luck, JPM could have been up there.
Why the hell am I arguing about this anyway? It has nothing to do with Nick..... *exits door* |

this still does not mean that he deserved second place in the championship.
your reasoning is very flawed what about DC's and montoya's "bad luck and poor reliability", not to mention rubens. "picked up points that SHOULD have been his". is that like the win at hockenheim that "should have" been montoya's????. at the end of the day, the person who deserved to finish second, did so, and that goes for 3rd,4th, 5th.................... |

Aside from Monaco, Canada and Germany, how much bad luck did DC have last year. Rubens, also, had a far more reliable car then that Williams. As for Montoya, yes he did suffer his fair share of bad luck, but Ralf was still faster then him during most of the year, just take a look at the statistics. And yes, Ralf did pick up a win that should have been Montoya's, but Montoya picked up 2 secound place finishes in Spain and Nuburgring that should have belonged to Ralf, so it all sort of evens out.
