Obviously McLaren, Renault and Sauber have good weather forecasters - hence not running in the wet.

Just seen a replay of the Montoya crash ...he went off at the last corner , didnt slow down went into the gravel backwards , car got very airbourne , was on the verge of barrell rolling ,but didnt and his the barrier ...looked a very big one ....anyway , he walked away , and was right next to the pitlane , so that was a short walk at least .

Will he need the spare car and if so does that mean he starts from the back irrespective of qualifying position?

No.

He can switch to the spare on Friday with no penalty.

However - they'd have to put the engine from his original race car in it.

If they can't do that, he'll be penalised 10 places on the grid for an engine change.

It was dry for the first 10 minutes, Ferrari just did 4 dry laps of 1.15s. Gene did a 1.19, as did Glock and Pantano, Hiedfeld got a 1.20 in, and Bruni and Lienders got a dry 1.21/22 in before it rained heavily.

Sato and Davidson did the fastest wet laps matching each other lap for lap...Davidson then went out again right at the end of the session and set the fastest wet/damp time of 1.26.552 to jump up to p9...which makes a comparison to Leinders p8 dry time of 1.22.267.

I think Montoya is just getting back into his car in the pit garage ....Not sure if it is a repaired one or the spare with his engine ?

Jenson quickest now

Do you mean that those three teams already know that it won't be raining during qualifying or during the race?
