my first thought: why?
i don't now the porsche supercup series but i heard it was serious. now it seems they're dusting off a couple of "old guys" cause they need some names that american fans have heard of. the supercup race goes off after the morning f1 practice. maybe there will be some empty seats for us gen admins. after the locals get to cheer on "little al" one mo time. |

What have you got against the porsche supercup??, at every round they invite two guest drivers. Are you just scared that a bunch of so called unknowns will beat 2 american drivers?

You were misinformed - the Porsche Supercup is a joke Did you not see the footage of Richard Burns putting one on it's roof at Silverstone ? Richard Dunwoody was good though... those two names kinda give you the skinny on how seriously it is taken!

and as for the americans following a "bunch of unknowns" around ims. i think thats cool. that what the indy 500 has become now too. |

I have no problem with guest drivers racing in the Supercup. Believe me, the 200,000 tickets sold were not bought because of the Supercup race.

Of course it makes sense to have the Andrettis as the "guest drivers" for the Supercup.
No one is a more potent symbol of the link between F1 and Indy than Mario. Michael, to Liz chagrin, will be the spoiler. Expect him to be in the way of the regulars. I think its a great idea. BTW, at the Canadian GP support race, the VW TurboCup, I was cheering for old GP "Pilotes" Laffite and Arnoux. Its great to see the guys we followed years ago out there thrashing it around. GO MARIO!!!! |

Same, I thought you meant they would be in F1 cars! Still should be interesting with all those foreign drivers there. They shouldnt do to badly being CART drivers. If THey were from NASCAR, thats another story.

Couldn't they get Richard Petty and Junior Johnson?
Actually I saw Junior driving an old NASCAR stock job of some kind around Goodwood on a Speedvision replay the other day and he didn't look half bad. I agree with whoever said they got Mikey and Wittle Al because they are people Americans have heard of, and to take off the "taint" of F1 not having any Americans for them to cheer for. But I don't think they broadcast support races anyway so it doesn't matter to me. |

Did you hear anyone denying that fact ? Still doesn't mean that the series is any more professional.
