Donington Night Race
The Plans for the night race at Donington are in an advanced stage. We are hoping for a good grid, 37 is the target...100mins...with driver change and refueling.

acarracinguk - The race, as the title of the thread suggests, is on Saturday October 18th, for the Britcar series. Read the many other posts on this forum to find out what you're missing, and why don't you come along and see everything from Fiestas to Marcoses battling it out in the twilight-to-darkness. It's going to be a unique event.

Looking forward to the Donington race, ascarracinguk, I would imagine the race is starting about 4pm-ish, that way the race can finish in the dusk time of day.

I've done three 'evening' races at Donington. Only one of them finished later than the previous meeting I'd been at...

Not yet, but have a look at http://www.eerc.co.uk for a list of those that competed at Thruxton, I doubt the list will change significantly

As the race is taking place into dusk, the qualifying session has to take place in the same conditions, so that will be Friday night

Unlikely that Willie Moore's awesome BMW will be out at Donington, nor several other of the one-offs that made welcome appearances at Thruxton.
Nevertheless, we can expect the usual rich mixture, and, now that the other championships are largely over, watch out for some teams with left-over budgets seeking a little autumn action. Hopefully confirmation coming soon - no doubt James will post details on this forum as usual. |

It is now confirmed that the whole thing will be wrapped-up on Saturday evening. Qualifying 17.20 to 17.50, then form up immediately on the grid for the 100 minute race.
The first driver will set the qualifying time, the second driver will stay in the car to start the race. No cars to enter the pit lane between qualifying and race unless directed by officials. This will, I believe, be an all-time first for UK racing, and will hopefully set the scene for the future. Entry list is not yet available, but will be posted as soon as it is. Drivers and teams should check the EERC website (not just yet, though) for confirmation of sign-on, scrutineering, etc. There is power in the darkness ! |

Sheila, I'm sure Steve is right. Glad James managed to pull it off, at least that means no-one will have to give up a Friday for Qualifying.
Steve, let me get this straight, only one driver needs to qualify the car?? Doesn't sound right to me, do you mean that the 2nd driver to qualify the car must start the race? |

Sheila, the Britcar race is an addition to the original programme, hence it's end-of-day status, and will make full use of the 8pm curfew.
Jason, the first driver will set the grid time, the second driver's time will not count, but he must participate in the session, and be at the wheel when the session ends, and the race starts. I'm not certain, but I think that each driver must do 5 flying laps. |

Correction to my earlier post - for "no car to enter the pit lane", read "stop in the pit lane".
