Brands Hatch 1983 - Race of Champions. Rosberg 1st, Danny Sullivan 2nd.

But there were non-championship sprint pursuits at the Bologna motor show for the Italian constructors in the late 80s.

Yes, the last non-champ race was at Brands in 1983...
BUT the last non-champ race in the same conditions as todays was South Africa 1981, where the FISA teams (Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Renault and Ligier-Talbot) decided not to race and, later, the same FISA declared that as a non-champ race. Sad thing, because if that race had awarded points, Carlos Reutemann would have been the 1981 World Champion.

I seem to recall something similar happened in Spain 82, as well.

Was no Spain GP in 82. Think it was 80 as RAM ran their Williams FW07s from the AFX championship for De Villota.
