Help needed to identify 70's wheels

Hi,

One of the historic touring cars we are restoring in Australia only came with two original wheels, and I can't identify either. Both are 13" diameter rims, and are probably from the early to mid 70's.

The first has a symbol on the front face, which looks to be a Bell with a B and some other markings in the middle:

The second looks to be a typical open wheeler wheel converted to touring car use, no markings on the front but it has XALA stamped in 2 places on the mounting face.

Can anyone help with these? Bit different to the Simmons and ROH wheels on my other race cars.

John

The second of the wheels looks very much like the ones done by Welsor , Colin Wear , now deceased.

Bryan.

Or a stylised Crown John....similar to many scandinavian brands. BTW I think I still have a pair of flared pants that might fit you and your taste in cars

Wheels

Mick, I am sure every good Mini owner has flared pants still in the draw, just waiting for the right occasion to bring them out - but remember, I don't own one!

I am pretty sure it is a bell, with a B and a W in the middle. Certainly doesn't fit any of the other wheels on cars in the club. Wheels are on an ex Group C Mazda RX-3, the 'Bell' wheels were what it used in the Bathurst photos we have, don't know where the Welsor wheels came from but they were with the car in the early 80's, complete with 10" steel outers.

Regards,

John

I would have said at first glance that your front wheels were definitely Simmons. I had a Sports Sedan that had wheels that would have been purchased circa 1978/9 and its front wheels (ironically) looked just like yours.

Mind you , it has been a few years since I have seen them ...
