CALAIS DISRUPTION Monday 6th Sept!

MONDAY 5th, not 6th! News is spreading that there will be a major protest on Monday by French transport organisations, farmers et al!

If they achieve their objective, Calais will be blockaded all day. There will be slow moving convoys on approach roads from 0630hrs.....

Anyone planning to head home from Zandvoort on Monday, and due to use Calais- you have been warned! Also assume ferries to the port will not be running, but check with your operator.....

Whether it will affect the tunnel, I've no idea. I guess also than Dunkirk could be free flowing.....

Perhaps they will protest anout the jungle at the same time. Then the French will get off thier xxxxs and clear the lot of them away.Scared the hell out of a couple of friends a few weeks back,no wonder they call it The Jungle.
Now my friends will never use Calais again untill the whole bloody mess is cleared out.

That the best (or worst) pic I've seen of the aftermath! Shows just how close the driver of the DAF was to getting a face full of bridge.

So the M20 will be open again in time for all the Dover traffic to queue on it as the ferries (likely) won't be operating.....

The protest is largely about The Jungle & the effect it is having on Calais & the port, truckers etc. The Mayor of Calais has voiced her support, becoming increasingly frustrated at the lack of activity from the Government.

However, interior minister Bernard Caezenouve is now reported by a local paper to have said that the camp will be progressively dismantled. In the meantime a further 200 police will be added to the 1,900 already involved. The illegal migrants are becoming increasingly violent. You may have seen some rather disturbing in-truck footage in the last few days from a Belgian truck whereby the driver was threatened with a pole through his windscreen if he took his foot off the brake.

This debacle has been going on for over a decade now and is still getting worse. Someone in France needs to grow a pair. It affects Dover and Calais, especially the Police, Customs, Immigration, Rail, and Ferry employees, who work in a constant nightmare. Taking a lorry through there is terrifying when the traffic backs up. In the middle of the jungle are British charity workers encouraging them.

Don't forget to check your vehicle for any unwanted passengers. If someone sneaks aboard you are a people smuggler and will get fined plus a criminal record.

Not only are there British charity workers in there stirring things up but the Diocese of Canterbury is in the process of appointing a priest who will devote half of his time to the 'needs' of the migrants.

Can't see that going down to well with 'The Religion of Peace'...!!!

As a frequent traveller across the 26 miles I tend to regard disruption as the norm these days. Eurotunnel has not been much better in recent weeks - queues at the terminal, widespread cancellations and you could forget travelling at any time close to your booked slot.

Why don't they just build a bloody great road tunnel to bypass this nonsense?

What, like we've got under the Thames at Dartford? That works well.....

But you're right, it's disruption virtually every crossing nowadays.

Quite why some Brits have taken it on themselves to effectively turn the green and pleasant into a no go area for so called christians to live a nice safe life defies belief. Mind you the so called HR Lawyers must be raking it in.
Green wellie and dreadlock brigades do nothing but stir up sotuations they then walk away from.
However, heard the Frencj are considering "growing some"and are planning to rip the jungle down, not doubt that will cost the brit tax payer a few bob or the government will just print a bit more off.

I will admit (if that is the right phrase) to being a deeply committed Christian, and take seriously the parable of the Good Samaritan, however, I wonder if having provided succour to the unfortunate traveller, the next time he came along the road he found four more 'victims' waiting for his largesse, and later several dozens, several hundreds, thousands?
The vast majority are not 'victims' atall, merely people looking something they should be creating in their own countries, stability, wealth and peace.

We did not invite them so why should we have any concern for them on this side of the channel?

They have crossed continents to get to the UK, why us?
Because we are too soft, when ever I hear that a boat load of illegal immigrants has been rescued in the channel I wonder what happens to them next?

Any guesses?

It's now been announced that the M20 will be completely closed all weekend until 0600 Monday (see Tim's earlier post), so anyone trying to beat the Calais protest will find themselves having to use the A2 / M2 from the Dover.....

Terence I suspect that you have a very nice house, and as my roof is leaking because I can't be bothered to have it fixed, and because my fridge is broken, as is my oven, and the plumbing is completely knackered, besides the garden being a jungle, well only because the mower is out of petrol and the misses is too idle to get some more, and I have no money 'cos I don't get any benefits, and who wants to work for a living anyway. I am setting out in an old tin bath to cross the ocean so I can sit outside your front door until I can sneak in when you are not looking, and I can have a wonderful life at your expense. Don't worry as I am not bringing the wife and our six kids they will be alright here, she is very good at begging.

Moham.

Oh! I know a lot of my mates want to come as well so please stock up on beer and sausages, not pork by the way.

Being reported that the criminals are now felling trees to stop trucks and cars on the A16.Caused what could have easily been a fatal collision between a car and truck.Getting better every day-or at least since word got out the french had banned the xray machines.Normal stupidity displayed yet again by them.
