Falcon BA

Well well well.....we have all waited for it, and well.....although it looks better and more clean cut than the AU, i am a little disappointed. i am not a ford supporter, but i do still have taste.
I do still think that this car is not an ugly brute, but at the moment, the anticipating pictures looked better.
The front end seems to have some sort of styling cue taken from something not unlike the Honda Accord.
And the rear, although similar to the AU, the rear looks more like a Hyundai Sonata rear light.
i would like to know what the more sporty versions will look like, and also, the V8 Supercar.

i think with a body kit or a sportier version will look a lot better, especially the TE50 or equivalent.
it may be an improvement on the AU, but the new commodore to be released earlier this year looks to be improving more than the new falcon has.

so what do you think?
1. do you think it is a beautiful automobile, set to conquer the national car sales tally?
2. has it not yet convinced you and may, especially if there are improvements, by power, styling, even by a body kit?
3. it will grow on you, although not yet that enticing at this point.
or 4. entirely hopeless, again, another failure for ford, a repeat of the AU.

PS: Just so i dont get sued, i got this picture off ninemsn news, from the link with story:

The front looks like a cross between Jag X-type and Hyundai Elantra.

FORD are to be congratulated - once again they push the boundaries of ugly and boring to new extremes. Is the front even really that much different ? And the back - just ew.

Even the model name is wrong - the BA - The Bugger All ? C'mon - is there anyone at FORD at all with the tiniest clue ?

The US update for the Taurus in 2001 looks very much like the Falcon BA

Wow, I didn't realise that this was just a nose and tail job, the advertising had me believing it was a new car.

At first glance I was reminded of the EL Fairmont. The nose is much softer than the current car, that will probably appeal more to everyone except the people who traditionally buy Falcons.

I like it, but I am a Ford fan, so I would say that, wouldn't I?

Actually, it brings it into line with the Laser in a way, and as David, says, there is definantly the old EL in there somewhere - hell, I can even see the wide body Camry's in there somewhere

I think it'll look pretty damn good once it's got a nice bodykit on, as twig said, the TE50 etc should look really good.

So yes, overall, although I don't think 'yeah thats brilliant' I do like it, and I do think it will grow on me, I also think it's got a classy, sharper image.

Guess we'll have to see if it has any effects on car sales...

The car I saw on the news must have been a luxo model, looked very current model modeo from the front, and a touch of jag on the back. But I like it.

It's an improvment on the au, I think the front looks closer to the holden.

From directly head on it looks like the Elantra.
And there is a bit of EL/Camry/Accord in the nose. A touch of Mondeo too, though a little squarer (than the now superceded model anyway as I don't really know the new one).

It is more of a clean cut design and a lot less droopy.

DNQ, just in time for the Laser to be taken out of the line up.

David, there are a large number of under the skin changes. Body wise, they've kept the doors and roof.

Dunno...

I like the XR AUs, might be the same situation with this jigger- might change my mind when I see it in the flesh though. It looks like it would make a good Nascar, or ram raider car...

Had a bit of time on my hands, so I fiddled around with a pic of the BA and came up with this - a gold, short wheelbase, lowered, two door falcon - unfortunantly my original picture was of poor quality, so the end result isnt too flash either, but you get the idea...

What it needs is a chrome tip exhaust, spoiler, massive wing, ugly side skirts, tinted windows, stupidly low profile wheels, and a big "Falcon" and a "NOS" sticker

Wish I had a higher quality picture to work with, but nonetheless, I made a few quick changes just a moment ago...smaller front and rear overhang, Nissan 200SX wheels and a few other changes, it looks OK I guess.

Actually, I am a bit worried it' turning out more and more like a Hyundai Accent

well for some reason, the marketing blokes....presumably, people who ford didnt know, but thought would have a better idea than them (A.K.A.: Tramps)
code/nicknamed it the Barra, hence the BA

dont know what it has to do with a Barra though, they must mean many, which have been dead for weeks, mashed up, shaped into some **** car like figure, and spray painted, then well, named the barra.....jeez ford...what were you thinking...?

Have a nice day!

Maybe they are calling it the Barra because they should all just be tipped into some Northern Territory river so we don't have to look at them.

DNQ, you're obviously a dab hand with Paintshop, but i'm worried about your taste, the short wheelbase makes it look like one of those awful BMW E36 hatches.

Yeah, I thought of that BMW too, but couldnt remember the model it was - actualy, my 'thing' looks like a hybrid of a Corolla, E36 and an Accent. Actually, I'll go a step further, and say it's a bloody awful vehicle I've created. The only thing I am proud of is the orange indicator light

I was browsing some other forums, and saw someone else came up with this effort. Looks decent enough I guess, but the top half is just a Mitsubushi Magna if I'm not mistaken...

You're right, the top is Magna, but the bottom looks very 5 series BMW. The grille is the only part i don't like.

It's bloody ugly. Looks like a japper to me. I've been a Ford fan for years but they've lost the plot. I still prefer the kitted EL any day.

I used to be a Holden man (kid), cause my dad always had them, every model from the EH to the HQ, then my parents broke up. Mom's next man was a Ford man, had a XB 351. As my dad was the villain, i quickly changed to backing Ford, and it was SO cool being dropped off at school in that 351 He also had a Valiant coupe. Like a Regal, but 2 door with a 318. That was great as well.

I remember him and mom going away for a weekend, and i hunted and found the keys to the 351. As a 16 year old looking to expand on my social standing, i took it out and picked up as many buddies as it could hold. Did burn outs all around town. Even got taken on by a group of hoods in a mk2 Zepher (?). The mk2 was painted in Cobra colours with a 302. Looked pretty neat actually. Anyway, i thrashed it.

Then i dropped my mates off and backed into a concrete fence. VERY bad move.

Also, as it was the ONLY yellow GT351 in town, some mate of my step dad grassed on me. The rest is history not gonna tell you what happened.

Those were the days.

I like it. I looked at this one and thought well they've fixed all the bits that made the AU ugly.

I'm tipping a few more fleet buyers might look at it now, too.

And of all the reveiws I've seen, the reception is about 99% positive.

Still, I'm tipping that the Ford boyz will still get flogged by the Hol-Chevs in Supercabs.....
