jetsetter should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
At the end of the session Tulli collects provisional pole position, great effort from both Rubens & Webber as well. The top seven runners finished within a second while you couldn't see Schumacher or Kimi staying that far down, it certainly looks as if it's going to be a fascinating weekend.

Only Monty in the top 6. Knowing Schumachers luck it will start raining after his lap tomorrow leaving JPM at the back!

That would be the worst case scenario for the championship fight, Bernie's got to speak to his friend upstairs & order a fine qualifying tomorrow.

since the other 2 threads where closed: the reason Jos broke of his lap is because the TC was'nt working, ánd under these conditions that is a big problem.

I can see Jos's problem, i wouldn't like to be driving an F1 car around Indy without any TC.

Well they had to in 2000.

Anyways, I'm glad to see that the Michelin teams look just as competitive as they probably would have with the wider tyres. We have a real title fight on our hands now - weather permitting of course.

 You can't be suggesting that closing those threads caused Jos to lose his TC.

a closed thread or no LC?

Seriously, I am surprised that Jos didn't have a go without TC. He could have been cautious and he might have not started first which could be worth a tenth or two tomorrow. Surely the accelerator pedal worked too.

Having said that maybe if it was an electronic problem then he could be worried something else might fail.

It also saves a lap of fuel (not for weight, but for cash!).

It was the Thread Control that wasn't working

It looks like the drivers don't remember that they can lift the right foot if there is wheel spin...

I agree ElsoAndso. Although a driver is at a great disadvantage if he is the only one without TC, we forget that brakes, throttles and steering wheels are also great traction control devices.

Wouldn't be great if it started to pour after the first ten cars had their run!! Then we would have a real race on our hands - and I'm betting that Ralf the Overtaker will win under those conditions.

Hehe!! Just joking, la!!

Mark Webber - I just woke up to, and found this fantastic surprise Go Mark! Third place, bloody fantastic.

I knew the Renaults would be cracking at this race. Well done to Trulli.

Well, so far everyone has been speculating on which order SchM, JPM, and Kimi would stand on the podium. I wouldn't be surprised if other drivers like Ralf, Trulli, Mark, Rubens, Fernando etc. who spoiled the pre-arranged podium party.

it was'nt TC afterall, the engine would'nt pick up:

Quote:
JOS VERSTAPPEN: “Initially the car didn’t feel particularly good this morning, and as a result, we changed a lot, which lost us time. A spring change improved the situation, but on what should have been my fastest run in the two-hour test session, the car stopped with a fuel pick-up problem. We changed the brakes for the one-hour practice session, as they had been locking quite badly, and I was reasonably happy with the balance of the car in the wet conditions. Unfortunately, the engine wouldn’t pick up in qualifying, and I failed to set a time, which is pretty disappointing. We’ll just hope for a better day tomorrow.”
