Intersport Lola on old Corvette tires?
Duncan Dayton seemed to blast Goodyear by suggesting that the B160 was on old Corvette tires and it didnt' suit the car. OK, Goodyear didn't have a huge presence this year in any class, but surely they could have done a little better than old Corvette GTS tires or send Intersport over to their subsidery Dunlop. RML ran a similar chassis with them to decent effect.

Was Intersport's lack of pace compared to RML (somewhere on the order of 6 seconds in qualifying if memory serves me correctly) mostly down to the tires? I was quite disappointed, I had high hopes for them.

yeah if what dayton was saying is in fact correct, goodyear really dropped the ball on this one... no reason for the intersport car to be so much slower than the RML one. i would think twice about using goodyears if i were a prospective team owner

What ticks me off is that if Dyson had shown up, Goodyear would most likely have put forth a big effort. For little old Intersport, its old stock Corvette tires.
How about some of the 98 Grooved F1 tires left over for Petite. I was really hoping for more for Intersport. Last edited by GT1; 16 Jun 2004 at 10:28. |

I'm surprised that Bridgestone don't have their brand on display more in sportscars and more specifically, at Le Mans. They have all the technical support and F1 research that Michelin have.

The opening post is quite correct. I had a long chat with John Field in the pits on Friday PM. They had to change cambers, roll bars, shocks, springs etc to suit the tyres.

I had heard that when the Yokohama tires were fitted to the Atlantics and it was mentioned they were part of the Bridgestone family.
I could be wrong. |
