Veggie 2014 Bet 'Em IndyContest - round 5 Indianapolis 500 (qualifying)

Hi, folks! Welcome to the round 5 of the Bet 'Em IndyContest. The second week of the Month of May features Pole Day and Bump Day, or whatever they call it nowadays the qualifying sessions.

The Belt Challenge faces round 4 winner Hunter-Reay and 2013 Indianapolis 500 polesitter Carpenter.

Like the regular Top 10 bet, the Fast Nine bet only awards drivers from rows 2 and 3 (positions 4th-9th). Meanwhile, the Last Row bet awards drivers who qualify 31st-33rd on Sunday.

For qualifying, you must pick five different drivers and a manufacturer.

o- Polesitter ($ 1,000)
o- First Row ($ 300)
o- Fast Nine ($ 50)
o- Last Row ($ 10)
o- Belt Challenge ($ 100) - Hunter-Reay or Carpenter.
o- Manufacturer on pole ($ 100) - Chevrolet or Honda.

The stakes for the Indianapolis 500 are:

o- 3 to 1: Castroneves, Dixon, Pagenaud, Hunter-Reay.
o- 5 to 1: Power, Andretti, Kanaan.
o- 8 to 1: Wilson, Briscoe, Montoya, Carpenter.
o- 12 to 1: Muñoz, Newgarden, Sato, Serviá, Hildebrand, Villeneuve.
o- 25 to 1: Bourdais, Hinchcliffe, Kimball, Saavedra, Bell, Tagliani.
o- 40 to 1: Busch, Rahal, Hawksworth, Aleshin, Karam, Davison.
o- 80 to 1: Huertas, Plowman, Mann, Lazier.

o- Chevy: 3 to 1.
o- Honda: 3 to 1.

If new drivers are entered this week, I'll add the stakes. The deadline is Saturday on track opening. Fasten your seat belts, and good luck!

So, here's the results of the 2014 Indianapolis 500 qualifying:

o- Polesitter ($ 1,000): Carpenter (8 to 1).
o- First Row ($ 300): Carpenter (8 to 1), Hinchcliffe (25 to 1), Power (5 to 1).
o- Fast Nine ($ 50): Castroneves (3 to 1), Pagenaud (3 to 1), Andretti (5 to 1), Muñoz (12 to 1), Newgarden (12 to 1), Hildebrand (12 to 1).
o- Last Row ($ 10): Karam (40 to 1), Saavedra (25 to 1), Lazier (80 to 1).
o- Belt Challenge ($ 100) - Carpenter (8 to 1).
o- Manufacturer on pole ($ 100) - Chevrolet (3 to 1).

MTAR chose Carpenter for pole and cashed $ 8,000. Marcostraz, NaBUru38, Chiana and Icemachin srlected him for the first rown and earned $ 2,400, wehereas Salamus, Skells22, Burp and DRT got $ 1,500 for picking Power. Four betters hitted their Fast Nine bets, with a maximum $ 600.

Chiana, DRT and MTAR chose lazier for the last row and got $ 800, while Teretonga selected Karam and got $ 400. Four betters earned $ 800 for picking Carpenter for the Belt Challenge, whereas six betters got $ 300 for picking Chevrolet for the pole.

These are the results of the round 5 Indianapolis 500 qualifying:

1st - MTAR: 8,000 + 0 + 0 + 800 + 0 + 0 = $ 8,800
2nd - NaBUru38: 0 + 2,400 + 600 + 0 + 0 + 300 = $ 3,300
3rd - Icemachine: 0 + 2,400 + 600 + 0 + 0 + 300 = $ 3,300
4th - Chiana: 0 + 2,400 + 0 + 800 + 0 + 0 = $ 3,200
5th - DRT: 0 + 1,500 + 600 + 800 + 0 + 300 = $ 3,200
6th - Marcostraz: 0 + 2,400 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 300 = $ 2,700
7th - Burp: 0 + 1,500 + 250 + 0 + 800 + 0 = $ 2,550
8th - Salamus: 0 + 1,500 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 300 = $ 1,800
9th - Skells22: 0 + 1,500 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 = $ 1,500
10th - Teretonga: 0 + 0 + 0 + 400 + 800 + 0 = $ 1,200
11th - WAT: 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 800 + 300 = $ 1,100
12th - Gomick: 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 800 + 0 = $ 800

MTAR won convincingly by hitting Carpenter are polesitter. I ited with Icemaster but got 2nd place for placing my bets earlier. Same with Chiana and DRT, who completed the top 5.

Standings:

1st - MTAR: $ 22,400
2nd - DRT: $ 17,400
3rd - Salamus: $ 11,200
4th - Teretonga: $ 10,200
5th - Icemachine: $ 9,600
6th - WAT: $ 8,500
7th - Skells22: $ 8,400
8th - NaBUru38: $ 7,900
9th - Marcostraz: $ 7,300
10th - Gomick: $ 6,400
11th - Mekola: $ 4,800
12th - Chiana: $ 3,200
13th - Neil22: $ 2,900
14th - Burp: $ 2,550

MTAR has taken the lead over DRT. Icemachine climbed to 5th and NaBUru38 to 8th.

The Indianapolis 500 race is next. Also, the Triple Crown special stage will be open this week. Good luck!
