I've driven a Rotax Max at Daytona Milton keynes and turn 13 was not flat, but that's only because Rotax Max's are EXTREEEEEMLY fast! 110mph fast!! Their Thunderkarts can do turn 13 flat though

A rotax Max 130mph? A TKM 80mph? Over Beachy Head maybe. It may feel like it but don't kid yourselves guys. Do the sums on gearing/revs and you'll see that a TKM is 70 at Wigan, low 60s most other places and the Max will maybe do 90 given a long enough straight, more likely 80 or so.

Maybe Speedy King is getting MPH and KPH mixed up??? The kind of speeds he is talking about belong in the shifter karts I reckon.

I never said a Rotax max will do 130mph!! A TKM will do 70mph, a Rotax Max will do 110mph apsolute maximum on the longest straight at somewhere like Mallory Park (car racing circuit) which has a massive straight. Do you race these karts? Because i do and i have an on board data loger and Alfano

On average a Rotax Max will do between 70mph and 90mph

Actually, Speedy, raced TKM for 5 years in both club and Super 1. Won over 40 races, a Club Champs in Junior and Senior and other things. Raced Max in 2000/01 in sprints and endurance, now race cars.
Have used PI data loggers when allowed and know exactly what the performance of these karts is.

Lying? I don't think anyone is lying, it's the eternal optimism of youth!!
It's actually a relatively easy exercise to calculate the speed of any fixed gear kart, using engine RPM, sprocket sizes and tyre circumferences. Try it and make your own mind up!

No one is lying. I'll try to get some specific information on speed. However i was told by a Senior Max driver that at Mallory Park a few years ago they got to 110mph. I'll check it

I quote From Karting Magazing, March 2002. Page 52

"The gearing for Pembry is likely to be fixed at 14-63 which is as tall as it gets without special gear sprockets and carriers. Top speed will be comfortably in excess of 100mph!"

This was taken from KARTING MAGAZINE in a column dedicated to Rotax Max's. Perhaps as you have raced Super One you have never raced Rotax Max's on long car circuits, only National kart circuits like Super one goes to

I would easily expect a Max to do 160kph+ on a long circuit, its not unusual to see KT's do 150kph down the main straight and this is confirmed on a number of data loggers

I drive a Rotax Max mostly at Genk (belgium) that's a FIA-CIK klass 1 circuit. At the end of the straight, we might get up to speeds like 130 kph, Jenson Button was there a while back, and he did 140 kph. But that's because he was racing with WC material... +160 kph is a bit fast, I suppose. You may not forget, that the rotax max is limited in revs, that prevents the engine getting higher speeds. So even if you take it to a long circuit (car-circuit) it might not go faster than that, due to the electronical rev limiter...
