Simiarities between Audi R8 and R10 engines if any.
I read in an issue of Racecar Engineering that Ulrich Batretzky stated that the R10's 5.5 liter TDI V12 had much in common with the basic design of the R8's 3.6 liter FSI V8. Is there any truth to this statement, as it came form an offical source(as he designed both engines)?

I think you have answered you're own question, haven't you?

But Mr. Baretzky didn't give any real specifics(probably trying to keep the engine's details a secret). And seeing as how I've never even seen an R8 or R10 in person(let alone a disassembled engine), I wonder what tricks they used.
