20 races!? "The 2010 calendar features three back-to-back races, the 2011 season will have four, with the Malaysia/China, Spain/Monaco, Germany/Hungary and Japan/Korea events all taking place on consecutive weekends." ... shiny!

The Circuit de Catalunya (that's the official name) is located in the village of Montmeló, close to the city of Barcelona.
The Monaco GP clashes with the Indy 500, the GP du Canada clases with the Firestone Twin 275s. |

Great calendar and nice to see it ending at the end of November too...
Surprised the USGP wasn't fast-tracked onto next years list as the teams are very keen. They may changed their mind when they see the Austin venue is in the middle of nowhere, but then that's nothing new in F1. |

Looks great on paper, in practise I wonder how this is going to work? It is going to place a lot more work on the teams.
A shame that there are so many dull tracks on the calendar. Great that they have kept Canada, Spa, and Suzuka in there. |

Quality > quantity. Looking at those tracks I still only get excited about a very small portion of them.

I have to agree, and to be honest, there at least 4 of them that are awful.

Glad that Brazil is the finale, a shame that Bahrain starts the season.
Even the classic tracks now are being slowly erroded away (more run off, corners reprofiled etc) so the line is blurring between the "new Tilke builds" and the "classic" tracks. Give them another few years and you won't be able to tell them apart, every TV shot will just be a mass expanse of tarmac. |

Well thanks to the world of TV scheduling and time zones, you'll be able to watch the Monaco GP, the Indy 500 then the Coke 600

And that's the weekend after my birthday!
My point is that the Indy 500 is overshadowed by the Monaco GP outside the Untied States. But that comment belongs to the IndyCar forum. |

They have to be good though. I'd love a 20 race season if it wasn't peppered with dross like Bahrain and Abu Dhabi.

That is a good point. Formula One is about Monza, Silverstone and Spa, not a race in an oil rich borderline microstate in the desert with no connection to motorsport history. Apart from producing dull races that do nothing for the teams (bearing in mind how much of the sanctioning fees goes nowhere near the teams and straight in to the pockets of Bernie's handlers at CVC) and fans (at a recent demo in Poland, they could have filled Abu Dhabi two and a half times), these races devalue Formula One. I would say on balance eighteen races is enough, and the focus needs to be on how motorsport in Europe can be less F1-centric.
