Racing a metro
I'm considering getting into racing and was thinking about a metro (MGCC Metro Cup).
Anyone know of any decent on-line resources and can anyone tell me what sort of budget I'd need to compete (after buying car etc.) |

Thanks for that Colin. I'm in Scunny myself so I'll ask around. I do know of one chap who lives between here and grimsby (wife was speaking to him at Silverstone).

Although its a lot different since my time in them, I reckon a budget of 2.5k for the car (either new build or ready prepped), then depending on class entered anything from £500.00 to £1500.00 for engine and tyres.
But sadly it appears that the numbers aren't turning out, so it may get swallowed up by the Total Butler Championship. Dennis Robinson, who runs the ex Welch Gp A rover in Classic Thunder, still trots his turbo out occasionally I think he's in Sleaford. Avonbar used to be a good source for tuning tips. |

I'm going to stick my neck out and say that we'll be running as the MG Metro Cup next year, despite a slightly disappointing year so far this year.
Last year we were turning out 20+ grids everytime. I've spent a few years on the MG Metro Cup committee and now run my own car in the championship on occasion. If you haven't contacted him already, Chris Hughes is your man. He'll give it to you straight and have you out next season, no worries! Failing that PM me and I'll have a go at answering any questions. |

I've already been in touch with Chris Hughes. As with everyone else I've contacted, seems to be most helpful.
Thanks to all who have offered help and advice. |
