Scott

One of my favourite Formula, I've been boring Historics forum browsers for weeks ! Go the that forum, theres load of stuff on it. Very strong in UK from 72-75, dipped in '76, came back, not quite as good from 79-83. Great looking and quick cars, close racing mostly, well known drivers. How long have you got !

I agree with Dan:cars looked and sounded fantastic. In fact I've still got an Audio tape somewhere with an Atlantic qualifying session recored from Oulton in 73: sad aren't I? but it's great for the withdrawl sysmptons during the closed season!!
Lots of the quick guys from Atlantic went on to bigger and better things: Tom Pryce, Tony Brise, Jim Crawford, Tony Trimmer to name but a few I'm sure Dan could name even more!

No I think we're all referring to the original Atlantic, mainly using Ford BDA motors in the US/UK/Australasi and South Africa from about 1969-84. Not sure when the Toyotas came in. Between those years, it was a sort of 'junior F2', very nice looking and quick cars, made good noises as well

As Scott Day asked 'what IS it' rather than 'what WAS it' maybe he was thinking of Toyota Atlantic, which is the only decendent that still exists-at least it stil did at the end of September.

Back to the 21st century. There'll be a new Atlantic Championship Series for pre-06 cars starting this year.

Any idea what happened to the Swift-Mazdas used between 2006–9?

They can also be found at the head of my photostream until something else is added....
