Brilliant mate!!
Great memories of the 2004 LMES race and that's the only coverage I've seen of the 2005 race since I was out of the country (and it looks like I'll be away again for this years race ) Shocking conditions! OT Enjoyed the Croft Rallycross vids too! |

Good weather makes such a differece.
2004 is so much clearer in my mind than 2005, when all efforts were focused on getting out of the rain and cold, lol. Looking back at the Donington FIA GT video, for the first time in many months, I realised how awesome the LMS race could be. Imagine LMP's slicing through the traffic on the Craner Curves. BTW, I'll put up the opening round of British GT from Oulton Park Easter week. |

Great video's there m8, brought back memories of the "Tidal Wave" start to the 2005 LMES race. How they all managed to get round Copse in that rain I've no idea!
What is the original resolution that your camera was filming in? I'm thinking of investing in some sort of Digital camera with video capability myself and I'm just "gathering data" at the moment before I take the plunge. |

It's a 3 CCD 1.7 mega pixel Panasonic DV camcorder.
Something like 540 lines resolution, which is basically DVD quality, Over 2 years old now. The cheapest 3 CCD Panasonic DV camcorder, costs around £450-£500 these days, is the same spec, maybe a little better than mine. The footage recorded to DVD via the Firewire/I-Link cable is much clearer than the Google video's. Can't see myself upgrading until the HD camcorders come down to well under £1000 in a few years time. |

I have recently put some videos online too, stuff I have temporarily had online before, but now on for good thanks to google's video feature. Contains footage from FIA GT, British GT, LMES and the C.E.R cars. The LMES and CER footage was taken on the friday during the practice sessions. It's not great footage but nevermind!
This link below goes to google video under a search of my name, showing the videos I have online: click here |

Nice.
I'll take my camcorder to Outlon on Easter Monday. Should get some good shots. |

Ok being honest the video quality may not be the best, but your camera must have a great microphone because the sound is spot on! My favourite clip is "FIA GT Silverstone 02", I must have sat nearly in the same place in Woodcote during the LMES for a while. That was one of my favourite viewing points as you can follow the cars all the way up the pit straight! By the way where was the 3rd LMES clip at night taken from? Is it the infield next to the hanger straight? |

Video quality is bad, I freely admit! But the sounds come out alright.
Woodcote's grandstands are a great place to see the final complex of corners from, as well as the main straight leading into copse at the same time. I've forgotten, off hand, if I've uploaded it or not but I have a video of the race start, which is another great reason to perch yourself in the Woodcote stands for a little while at least. As for the night footage - it was taken near Becketts (I think I got the right corner name...) - from the infield - from the grandstand on the inside which was right near the infield campsite, from the Friday evening practice session. |

When filming I find it's best to focus on one spot, as TV cameras do, then switch the angle of the shot.
I attempted to follow cars when I first bought my camcorder, but it's very difficult. As for the quality of the footage, if you can get the footage onto your computer use a free program like PSP Video 9 and convert the footage to MPEG4 'AVC'. There are 3 quality settings, I use 768kps. Use the 'one click' setting for ease of use. Once set up it's as it says, one click. This way you get small, DVD quality files that are ideal for google video. |

I find it's difficult to follow cars sometimes - particularly when trying to get close-up shots - there is a half-decent video of LMES qualifying which I haven't uploaded because I messed up trying to follow cars whilst having the camera zoomed in.
I don't have a proper digital camcorder, I use the video utility on our digital camera. We do have an old-style 13-year old video camera but the quality is diminishing due to age and use. I'm still going to take it to race events but I doubt I'll ever get anything worth uploading to the internet. |
