According to F1-racing.net Davidson had signed Jaguar deal for 2005...
http://www.f1racing.net/en/news.php?newsID=64175
F1-racing.net are reporting that Davidson had apparently already signed a 2005 Jaguar Contract before all the Ford announcements, if that is the case that's incredibly disappointing news for Davidson. What it would also suggest is that he wasn't going to get the BAR drive either? Found out from a colleague here yesterday that Davidsons g'friend is a PR officer at Jaguar Racing too...! Fords news is a bit of a blow for both of them |

Well I think we'd pretty much guessed that, judging by some of the posts around here! Still now it seems more 'out in the open' (sort of).
I guess his contract is in the bin now and won't be transfered to the new owners? Althought they might want him. They could be looking for people with more money, or jsut want someone else. It is a shame for AD, but at least he has something to fall back on. |

Don't rule out Davidson still driving in the replacement Jaguar team as a Davidson and Coulthard driver line up might strengthen the sale. Everything F1 is not always what it appears to be!

Hmm, if he has signed a contract where money is owed to him, what is the deal if the team is sold? Is he therefore part of the staff and as ridiculous as it would be, entitled to redundancy pay for '05??

Also there may be clauses in it etc... In addition was the contract final, or a letter of intent etc... |

Coulthard and Davidson as the TAFKA Jaguar line-up doesn't entirely add up, as I can't imagine BAR passing Ant over for their race drive if they haven't secured another leading driver for it, and DC is probably their main option.
I think Ant would be ideal for a new team, as long as the other driver is reasonably experienced. He's certainly fast, but must have more to learn long-term. |

From what I have read Jaguar would be better served, financially, selling the race team as a going concern or they have to pay out for redundancy and even if that was not the case I think that the Jaguar (not Ford) management in Tony Purell actually do care for the team and I for one see the team and Cosworth continuing forword into 2005 all be it co-owned between two parties. I hope Davidson gets the drive as he deserves it and to have a contract then lose it would be a huge shame. Maybe Jaguar-Honda? :-)

This is really another example of Jaguar's badly-planned management. If you';re selling a team as a going concern, you want as few expensive contracts to already be in place as possible. Assuming the contract is watertight, whoever buys the team would have to either pay Ant his 2005 salary, irrespeective of whether he races.

Well we don't know the exact situation. Maybe Ford has the contract and AD will get 'compensation'.

just got this off autosport.com:
“We were in talks with Jaguar and it looked quite promising but we hadn't signed anything,” Davidson said. |

The problem is he wont be able to drive the Friday car next year, that's unless BAR end up running three cars and then the future's rosy for Ant I would have thought. Surely DR would take Ant over Coulthard?

Maybe we will see Ant in the 3rd Williams? After all, there were rumours of him being summoned to Grove earlier in the season!
