George's Plans ?
Can anyone fill us in on what Georges plans are for the ERC this year! no website updates in yonks! 2007 and I thought would be a learning year for G on the ERC trail, but a number of car changes through out the season dosent seem too of had enough time behind the wheel of any one Car to adjust and gain experiance must have made it more difficult for himself.I was hoping with Mr G's Money and Contacts he would be a regular contender for the A& B finals or is he just in it to buy and sell cars and just to enjoy the crack.
Its a shame the winter months racing in his home championship would of given valuable experiance in the C4 and the team for the forth coming ERC events. |

George has confirmed that he will not be in Lydden this weekend. Blyton will be his first UK visit in 2008

If only George could drive!
If he had gone to lydden with the 6r4 he would have been well beaten by the other 6r4. Its good that he is in rallycross, but he's never ever going to make an A final in the ERC. |

Wouldnt agree with the tallent thing!
George most certainly can drive, you only have to sit back and whach him in mondello against DC and the others. He is on par with them, unless your saying DC and the rest dont have tallent.. are you ? Id like to see how you measure this, is it based on Wins & finishes, Consistancy ? I would like to see this equation to back up all thats been said.. |

Thought i would join in the fun. George can certainly drive, when i first saw him at mondello a few years ago he reminded me of the old style of rallycross driver. Head down and flat out.

I think when making making comment you have make sure you compare the facts.
If you compare when George was in France he looked terrible but he was in a dog of a car. By the time he got to Czech he had turned his credibility around. Bearing in mind he had only had the Xsara for the previous 2 rounds he chased Eklund (I think from memory) all the way in the third heats. Dont knock the guy, there have been plenty of guys in the ERC who have had cash and not been as quick as George The trouble is the game has been raised again for 2008 so he will have his work cut out again! |

Results/facts : Last year a full European season [bar Portugal] netted a 16th in Belgium and a 12th in the Czech Republic. With the exception of Ayrat Shaymiev, he had the one of the least successful years of any driver who did [almost] the full championship. Maybe 2008 will be a year when he can prove the doubters wrong.

We'll see what George and his money can do in 2008. If he proves successful I'll be the first to laud him. But I can't help but think how much better it would be to see some of those resources plied behind some of Ireland's young up and coming talent as Frank Nolan did with Martin Donnelly back in the day. |

George is not as old as that !! and it was really good to see him help on dummy grid at Lydden. Not many drivers would do that

12th in Cheque rep is not a bad result. Certainly considering the Xsara is quite old and far from updated as eg Bermingrud's Xsara. If you consider track knowledge, cars and entry in the ERC, George was not all that bad. Regular C-finals in 2008 with an odd B-final and he would impress me (in the C4 that is, another C-final in the Xsara would even impress me)
Good luck to him! |

george is good for the sport and is a great character but when it comes to mechanical sympathy he has none. he has thrown away some great results. i have stood in mondello and see him go from 1st to last which is all down to being abusive to the car.

[QUOTE=davyboy]Yes you can. The championship today is a shadow of what it was in the 1980s.
Disagree with that, I saw alot of European rallycross in the 80's and can confidently say the ERC is stronger now than I can ever remember. George did well in Belguim last year, was leading the heats at times, what I would say he needs to be more aggressive, he came in to some rough treatment at times, needs to give abit back. |
