Laguna and MidOhio are too small and tight for these slow behemoths. road america is a must for the calender, perfect. Portaland has the trucks and Mosport maybe a good addition as well, too bad about the atlanta oval- because road atlant would be good too.
although i'd love to see them at laguna |

VIR and Road America are too long for NASCAR's tastes, they like a short lap length.
Mid-Ohio's not too tight if Sears Point isn't. Mosport and Portland would be interesting to see, both tracks would be well suited to these cars, and are in markets NASCAR hasn't penetrated. Laguna wouldn't work. It's too close to Sears Point, plus the Corkscrew would be carnage. Last edited by Lee Janotta; 23 Jun 2003 at 16:06. |

Mosport would be a great draw. Canada and especially the Toronto area are great fans of road racing. There might be a traffic jam getting the fans to and from the track though.
Too bad that Laguna Seca would not work though. It is my favorite track. Last edited by muggle not; 23 Jun 2003 at 19:32. |

The NASCAR boys have raced at Mosport many years ago. I will check back thru my old programs and try and get more info. Not too sure if the garages and pit would be up to snuff for these guys. Don keeps makin improvements all the time and i'm sure it wouldn't take much. If they ever decide to run there i'll be leavin on Wed cause the place will sell out.

All of them are suitable. If NASCAR's can survive 16 laps of Bathurst, they can survive anywhere

they have been to portland the Truck series races there or has as well as Winston West.
now Mid Ohio is a bit tighter than Sears Point (based on the gear changes and speed in Champ cars, and transam), and they don't like Long laps? what the? Road america is so ong and sweeping in really good in every aspect no series excpet IRL can go wrong being there. and road Atlanta-how cool would that be. not daytona sportscar, but sebring is interseting. |

The Southwest Series races or used to race at Laguna Seca. Trouble is that the track is too narrow and the way the guys beat and bang there would be an endless caution...

Forgive me for posting twice here, as I got a bit ahead of myself before...
VIR has a shorter layour of about 2.2 miles if I recal? So it is a matter of facilities and if NASCAR needs another race in the south? Mosport would be interesting indeed! Road America as mentioned is too long for NASCAR's taste and is a bit rural if I recal... I also wish they would use the boot section of Watkins Glen! Portland might work, it is the right length, and I don't think that the layout is that big an ussue, just the weather in some cases... Sadly NASCAR will look to only look towards cookie cutter tri-ovals in the future... |

There is nothing "bad" about cars racing on a road track.

I think NASCAR puts on a better show on the road courses then on most ovals. Instead of two, I wuold love to see NASCAR race on four or five road courses. Turning right sometimes is not a bad thing!!!!

Winston West has run at Laguna. They are winston cup cars except they run a 390carb(Which cup used to use).
VIR would be interesting-according to what I heard they are pretty fast through the esses there. Mosport-Cascar,USAC,ASA,have all raced there. Didn't Latemodel sportsman run on the Daytona roadcourse? What about MontTreblant? Cascar is looking at running there in the future. I think all of these tracks mentioned in this thread are capable of holding a Nascar race. |

I'm also for more road courses,at least 1 or 2 more events, always a great show on these types of tracks,IMO!
Did Anyone forget about the IMS 2.7 mile(I think)road course, wouldn't that be a suitable course? It worked for Jeff Gordon & Juan Montoya already,LOL! Why can't Someone design & build a road course based on the old Riverside Raceway layout?I'm a newer fan & have missed out on the(from what I'm told)great racing there throught the years till the late 1990's!
