retro_msport should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
How to get started

Can someone post some up to date links to online infomation on "how to become Marshals" so i can post them on a Car Forum in their Motorsport section please.

Even if only one person follows it through to become a Marshal its worth it, but I hope a few more do.

Thanks in advance

Thanks guys, now can you give me your views on this, feel free to edit it as much as you like

"Whats this about then? well its Marshaling at Motorsport Events, and it's not really about getting a free days spectating its about doing something that you enjoy and getting fullfilment out of it. Marshals are the guys in orange overalls who wave the correct flags at the side of the tracks to the lunatics inside the cars that there is a problem ahead, they also keep 2 drivers apart when they have taken each other off, they also help save Lives, and yes on a good day they can spend the whole day watching cars racing around a circuit without having to leave their posts to heave a car out of the gravel etc.

Marshals are some of the most respected men and women at the race track, without them there would be no motoracing. Do you like watching Motorsport, like being close enough to smell it, taste, feel it as the cars go thundering by, then take a few moments to read through these links.

http://www.marshals.co.uk/
http://www.volunteersinmotorsport.co.uk/

And have a think about joining this group of motorsport professionals. It dosn't matter what form of Motorsport you like, there is Marshals needed in all the catagories. "

Nice words Retro, sort out some of the bits of punctuation and grammar (it's not its, are not is at the end) and you'll keep the pedants happy!!

Also don't forget that Marshals aren't just the guys and girls on the bank who move cars and wave flags. There are other disciplines, pits, startline, race 'phones etc. - I know you've trying to put a small precis together but there are lots of people who aren't attracted to the "bank" stuff who might go past your post.

Good luck and thanks for trying to encourage people.

No worries, you were provoked anyway! I've edited the message. It's a shame as it was obviously a worthy post, but rules is rules and that's one to which we really can't allow any exceptions.

I now return you back to the thread.

BMMC South Midlands are holding a marshals training day on Sunday 12 Feb 2006 in Bicester, just off J9 of the M40. It'll be a well different format to anything we've done before and is starting to look exciting, even if I say so myself.

PM me for details is you want them

If theres benifits avalible, then it makes the whole thing more attractive, and that was my idea, to spark a bit of interest in becoming a Marshal... and all of this was out of reading that letter to the MSA on another thread... like I said, without you guys there is no motorsport. Its a case of the chicken and the egg, not calling you chickens or eggs but you get what i mean
