Pre66 Event at Cadwell Park?
Hi,
I'm in the final stages of a Lotus Cortina restore and hoping to bring it out next month. I've seen on a competitors website that there is a Pre-66 Touring Car event at Cadwell on the 7th September by the CTCRC, but can't see anything on their website to confirm it is the case. I've also noticed that the CSCC are running a meeting on the same day. So very confused - Is this correct? So the questions are; who is organizing this day the CTCRC or CSCC or both, and is the Pre66 Touring Car race in question a CTCRC event or CSCC event or both. Tried calling the 0870 club number the site listed, but no answer I'm afraid. Anyone with info, please let me know! Many thanks Paul. |

The HRSR is a series for pre-66 saloons and we have several Lotus Cortinas in the series. We have races this year at Brands Hatch on 13th Sept.; Donington on 4th/5th Oct. and Silverstone on 18th Oct. Let me know if you want further information. Peter Wray |

''8th August 2008 Pre66 Touring Cars at Cadwell Park Andy Messham has purchased a grid slot at the 7th September 2008 meeting with the CSCC. £165 for a 20minute race with a 15 minute qualifying, and a rebate system for cars over 20 on the grid. We'd be there with the Lotus Cortina, but sadly there's too much to do. Best of all, no membership of BARC or the CSCC is required, and CTCRC day membership is available. A great one off opportunity to wheel out your classic on the mini Nurburgring. For some reason the CTCRC webmaster hasn't posted the details on their site in any public areas, so for more information call the CTCRC on 0870 321 2277.'' http://www.oddballracing.com/ |

Hi,
Thanks for that - The Oddball Racing site is where I spotted the news too (they have a Cortina rebuild blog on the go I was reading), but there isn't anything obvious on the CTCRC site for entry forms/contact details and so forth. I was expecting so given the offer on not requiring to join BARC etc. I have found both the Swinging Sixties and Thermex Pre66 races on the CSCC website for the 7th, but I was told you didn't need to join the clubs to do the Thermex event. Didn't want to jump until we were sure. Peter, many thanks but we had looked at the various series we can run and for the UK race dates we felt the CTCRC topped with CSCC would cover us best without joining every club. Many thanks Paul |

A very quick look at classicsportscarclub.co.uk (specifically the link below) yields an entry form and regs for the meeting.

Thanks Ian.
I had seen that though, the trouble is it has no entry fee showing for the Thermex Pre66 Touring Cars event, presumably because it's a CTCRC race. I was hoping a club bod would be along shortly! Many thanks Paul. |

Hi, As a moderator on the club site I have just made a copy of the post in the private section of the club's site into the open section so you can get all the details you need here, it was probably an oversite that it was not posted where it could be accessed: http://www.classictouringcars.com/ph...php?f=9&t=1146

Blimey Zef it aint that far and the end result has got to be worth it, I would rather travel twice as far to go there than Silverstone for example and you go there!

VSCC annual visit - by definition no "moderns". Quite a few Morgan tricycles too. An entertaining day full of nostalgia!

So Andy's Pre-66's are not real pre-66's John, well you could have fooled me as they all looked pretty old when I saw them last! :-)
Get your entry in you never know you may enjoy it, I would go myself but my car is a 1970. |

What makes you think these are not real pre66 cars and have ever seen them?
