Gauteng/Kyalami thread
http://www.thetimes.co.za/PrintEditi...aspx?id=939359
Looks like the Gauteng/Kyalami weekend will be a sellout. Not sure if good for A1GP's cashflow or if the local promoter takes all gate takings with a set rights fee being paid to A1GP. Either way good news and it should be a great weekend of racing with a packed house. Should also be a key weekend in terms of the championship. If Ireland do well again then could start to have a very useful gap. If Portugal or Switzerland win however it could even up, and if France, Netherlands and New Zealand are to seriously challenge for the championship they really need double podiums or a win. Overtaking should be more than possible, as Zauggy said in the preview interview with James Hinchcliffe this circuit has all kinds of corners. |

Jeroen is driving :P Not confirmed on A1GP yet (for some reason), but it's been known since the start of the season that Jeroen would be driving.

Good that Indonesia have promoted Ali over Hermanto. While Formula BMW Asia is well below A1GP level Zahir Ali was very competitive in that series (race winner), and I rate him higher.
Will be a bit weird if KOR run a Japanese driver (Kunimoto) with a Korean name as kerrmanningjarv has indicated in the prediction comp thread. There are plenty of second and third generation Koreans in Japan so it would be interesting to see how he qualifies as a Korean. |

Well, if one can win the Macau GP, one has to have talent; right?
It will be interesting to see how he will do. |

I am sure he is a very good driver, what I meant was I wonder how he meets eligibility requirements.

Are all the cars in SA now? I ask as there were 10 in transport racks at Auckland Airport last night which does not give much time to get them there.

The lead up to race is becoming more thrilling than the race it self. lol
A1 just seem to be cutting it closer and closer for each meeting. Just hope they can get the cars out of TT backyard once there. This is looking like it could be one of the best A1 races, with 2 more cars likely at the front, GER and KOR. Also Adam for PAK should be in the mid field. Danny back for GBR and Earl for NZ. Pitty F Nippon test going on as Loic and Lottera there. I do like the look of team Germany with both drivers strong(think Amermuller gets rough ride due to a couple of previous mistakes but I like an agressive driver just need to get his timming right). |

My prediction is for Adam Khan to qualify last, behind Zahir Ali. I don't rate him at all.
Will be interesting to see how Kunimoto the Korean goes, especially as I presume he won't have had any testing. |

I wonder, if Lotterer and Duval are in Japan for a Formula Nippon test, then why is Kunimoto/ Lee not there (in Japan)?
He is rumored to race there after all. |

First load of containers carrying pit equipment has arrived - 16:30pm
Now track owners are frantically trying to get all the kerbing painted after paint only arrived late today. It is rapidly becoming a farce ..... |

It is a fact sadly that money is tight everywhere. Rejoice instead in the fact that the cars and drivers are at Kyalami and we're set for some cracking racing!

OFFICIAL driver list has been released by A1GP and there is NO Pakistan or Korea, despite Pakistan having a new car which they tested and Korea having a new driver which they previously announced.
So we will have a 20 car grid with Germany the only addition to those who raced at Taupo... |
