But I guess with so many premier race championships like BTCC, F3/GT, WTCC, A1GP, DTM all wanting track time in the UK this year we were always going to have date clashes…. |

Organising race series calendars is practically impossible. And it gets worse the less profile you have, you sort of have to wait for the knock on effect. Everyone knows that getting it done early is best too, but it never works out. For my series I suspect there are plenty of changes left! British GT probably has to wait for at least F1, Bikes, TC to be sorted. Throw in the odd big one off events, say an historic festival, or even a pop concert and it is a pain. Still there are many race meetings the trick is to minimise the clashes, but there will be some - there are dozens of race meetings each year in this country. Then what about clashes with major meets abroad. Argh!!!!!!!!! |

The date clashes are a right pain, it means trying to decide whether to do LMS at Donny or A1GP at Brands (a no brainer really... and if they have the LMS race on Saturday like the last couple of years I guess I can get to Brands on the Sunday...), and LMS at the 'Ring or British GT at Snetterton (that's the big one, LMS at the 'Ring is great, but Snetterton is much closer to home...)

Theres no excuse for A1GP racing so early in the year, nevermind clashing with LMS.
What happened to it being a winter series? Now it's fighting it out with all the other spec series. GP Masters with Mansell will take the shine off A1GP. At least Brands is a decent distance from Donington. |

That's a very good point actually. It would make sense to have A1GP in September, perhaps towards the end, when the calender isn't as crowded, and the weather should still be reasonable. But, you can't please everybody...

It is also worth pointing out that the round at Rockingham clashes with the GP Masters at Silverstone (which has F3 as support) and as well as that also clashes with TOCA at Snetterton so that 3 big meeting all with in 80 miles of each another on the same weekend.

May and June look like being nightmares for the GT3 runners. They have two weeks to recover from a two hour race and get to Pau and then less than three weeks to get from there to Mondello. Not much time for getting back to the workshop if major repairs are needed.

With all these examples of clashes we should perhaps be celebrating all the great choice we have.

I couldn't agree more Adam, it looks as if I will only see the BGT twice this year which is a real shame.

The A1GP season will still start later than the football season, and that is a winter sport...

A bit off topic: Whilst A1GP is a winter series; giving the climatic conditions that prevail in Britain during the course of the A1GP season, I would imagine that feasibly the event could only run in late autumn/early spring in order to attract a good crowd. Ultimately, with so many high profile championships wishing to race in Britain, then clashes somewhere along the line would be difficult to avoid.
