1:43 British Touring Car Championship Models

Does anyone know if scale models from the 2001 BTCC season are being made? Last thing I heard, they weren't making them anymore...

I just don't think there is the demand. Well yes there is, loads of people would buy a BTCC model, but compared to the old Super Tourers, it's the UK and the UK only that has these shapes of cars. For example, if you made a cast for a Nissan Primera ST, that would also be suitable for almost every other Super Touring Country.

I would love to see some models coming out, but at the moment only the Vauxhall I would say would be produced, they could use the same cast for the DTM Astra, fairly similar.

Any BTCC 1:43 collectors here? (merged)

Does anyone know if Minichamps will produce cars based on the '02 ETCC or BTCC championships? Thanks ahead.

I have a feeling that Hotwheels may produce some MG BTCC models due to their sponsorship of MG, perhaps even the whole grid!

I won't be suprised if they made 1/64 scale ones, but I doubt they will make BTCC 1/18s (they make F1 though). And I don't think there are any 1/43 Hot Wheels period?

Anyone got any good Die-Cast 1:43 Touring Car websites?

Preferably with pictures with them...i looked at the Redshoes one but it has a few things missing like the 1995 Will Hoy Renault Laguna No.22 plus i want to find some ITC cars aswell.

Thing is i want to see what else is available...i got tooo many touring cars as it is but i want to get the whole collection of them. Also, anyone got any idea if the 2001/2002 Tourings Cars are going to be produced and if there are any 1:43 DTM cars from 2000-2002?.

Thx in advance

btw...over all i got about 25 touring cars.

Might aswell give ya the list

3 Renaults
5 BMW's
1 Ford
2 Peugeots
6 Hondas
1 Alfa Romeo
4 Vauxhalls
1 Volvo
2 Nissans

Hey Larsen, are you trying to collect a particular year/championship or just interesting/cheap models like me? I think the Spence car is a rip-off. It barely has any sponsors.

I am disappointed that no Dodge Stratus, Mazda Xedos, Toyota Carina and post-94 Mondeos were ever created? I wonder why not??

The Spence car is silver painted with a black decal on the rear end. Make sure you get a good one, because there are a lot out there with holes or torn decals.

I've really tried hard to cut back. There are more ST/DTM models out there than money in my bank account. I've tried to cut back to buying models that are somehow special or I have connections to, like I saw them up close before or seen them in a museum before.

I hope we don't ever end up competing for the same model, but check out www.ebay.com. They tonnes of ST/DTM models. You can sometimes find killer dealers on it.

Hey does anyone know whatever happened to all those die cast models of the British Touring Cars? They only went up to the 1999 season then just stopped? can you still get the 2000 -2003 season cars or not? Do they still make them?

I haven't seen any models of the cars for years after the regulations changed - I don't think it was worth it for the diecast manufacturers, the super tourers were used worldwide so they could produce loads of different liveries all based on a single casting. Since then the BTCC has been out on its own for regulations so the potential production run for models is much less.

I've been looking for either diescasts or resin kits of the current BTCC cars but I can't find any

There haven't really been many- if any- models of the current BTCC cars that I can think of- it was a lot easier to do models of touring cars during the Supertouring period, as the manufacturers (who are all overseas anyway) could use the same basic casting of each type of car to represent cars from almost any touring car series by just painting and decalling/printing to match the appropriate cars from the BTCC, STW Cup or whatever.

As the Touring-class cars from the BTCC are unique to the UK, I guess that at present they don't think there's enough sales potential for them- (you can get DTM cars though, so maybe they're seen as having more sales appeal even outside Germany...)

Does anyone do current ETCC cars?- (I don't think I've seen any around yet?)- with ETCC-spec cars beginning to appear in the BTCC, then maybe we'll see more models around.

I can't remember whether there were any 2000-season BTCC Supertouring cars modelled or not- although a little while ago I think someone did post a link in another thread to a website listing what touring car models had been produced

I know the Vauxhall Motorsport Muller/Thompson Scalextric car has just come out (2002 version) but its on a DTM chassis and body and in my view makes it look silly. Apart from that I haven't seen any new model cars...apart from scalextric and radio controlled versions of the Vauxhall and Honda.

yeah the new scalextric model does look quite stupid. i think there just cutting corners by doing that. i heard that the company that made the die casts had gone bust as had the company that did the season review books.

I posted that link (can't remember it now) - I found it on one of my fruitless searches for models of the new spec BTCC cars. The only diecast tourers produced since the reg changes are the DTM cars.

You can also get the MG, and Proton, but they are for the racing side of RC, and don't really look like the BTCC cars.

As for ETCC, there is a BMW you can get (the one with the car parts painted on the side), but I haven't seen one in the UK.
i didn't know you could get the MG or Proton? i've got the other two the Vauxhall and Honda there great. But why did they have to use stickers for the livery?
