rFactor Help
Usually i only use my rFactor for Oval Racing i.e. IRL and Stock Cars. I use nr2003 as well.
Last Thursday, i had time off so i thought i would try a few regular circuits. So i downloaded the Megane mod and V8Factor and i absolutley struggled with both. I thought it may have just been because i was new to it and it would take time but 4 days later i dont feel i've improved at all. It seems that i lose the backend of the car on acceleration out of a corner, especially in the v8s. I've tried different lines and backing the corner up and then trying to get a straighter exit but nothing seems to help. Advice is appreciated

Personally i think you picked the wrong mods to "start out" on your road racing career. I don't like the meganes at all, i find the handling very unpredictable and online the races are always a crashfest as very few seem to be able to drive them without spinning. Its a good mod, i just don't think it suits the bulk of drivers.
The V8s are also known to be very difficult to handle. Not undrivable by any means, but they do take time to understand, setup and drive consistantly. Fantastic joy to drive once you do get the hang of them tho. I'm assuming tintops are more your thing so try some of the other mods, PCC (Porsche Carrera Cup) and the BMW E90 are both cracking mods. Take some time with those and work up to the others, it'll pay dividends when you do. |

I have to agree that PCC would be a good place to start. Quick enough to be a challenge, but they are forgiving enough to learn.
The Meganes are fun but twitchy, but I don't get on with the V8s at all, understeer/understeer in abundance for me. I just didn't feel connected to the car. Horses for courses. |

Cheers guys, i've just downloaded the PCC mod and found it to be much easier and much less jumpy than the other two. The BMW mod was also quite fun to play about with, had a go around Brands with it and found it to be much easier to drive.
Still seem to be spinning out a lot even in the PCC but i'll give it a few weeks to try and get adjusted. It's quite challenging this road racing stuff, very hard to keep consistent. |

obvious question but have you got the logitech profiler installed and running when you play? is it no feedback at all, or just very very low settings? the default is usually quite strong...

The same wheel has good feedback on the PS2 using GT4, but with rFactor on the PC, it's either minimal or nil. I've tried 100%, -100% and in between, seems to make no difference....................... |

that'll explain it then. PC's aren't PS2's - you need software to make most external devices work. Sometimes it'll sort itself out but the wheel needs the logitech software installed before it'll work.
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/44...|downloads||dd You should be able to get it from that link, its straight forward enough to install just follow the prompts. |

ah, AI can be notoriously fickle. What AI strength have you got them on, and at what track? The AI path is a difficult thing to mod well, so they do better or worse at different tracks. I'll try the same combo and can let you know if its a problem with you or the AI

Yeah i know how unpredictable the AI can be. Yet to see a stock car mod on rFactor that has good AI.
I've been racing on Mount Panorama with the AI set as a 80%. It'll almost certainly be me, i'm just not very good lol This latest road racing endeavor has helped my laps around Watkins Glen on the VHR mod, i've knocked a second and 1/2 off my lap ! |

To anyone who is in the same boat as me and is new to road racing, the Grand Slam mod is fantastic for a beginner. Really fun to drive, i ran a straight 90 minutes at Daytona this afternoon

To get accurate lap times in the '69 Bathurst Legends and 2006 V8SC, what should i set the AI strength to?

Do you want the AI cars doing accurate lap times? My point being the Bathurst layout they didnt run the 69 cars with this configuration of the Track , try this version here http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail...anorama%201967 For the V8SC you prob need it on about 100%. Feel free to jump on our Server #1 for V8SC any night for a comparisant against some of our Drivers. Server listed under Adenalin Factor .com # 1 |

Thanks YZ, i've got both versions of Bathurst. By accurate lap times, i mean i want the cars driven by the computer to do the sort of laptimes they would have done back in the day. So, 100% is the go eh?

thats a very personal preference that. as a guide i use specific settings for rfactor, mine are:
overall strength 45 spring 40 damper 44 centre spring 55 320 deg of rotation it doesn't suit all mods but is usually confortable for me at least, especially with realfeel installed to rfactor too |

So a couple of months later, i'm still trying to get below the 1.50's on the Grand Am mod at Daytona. Just seems like the AI blows me away through Nascar turns 2, 3 and 4. I can keep up in the infield so i'm perplexed.
I've messed with the gears and the suspension settings but i can't seem to carry the same speed as the AI. Also are there any servers for newbies, i.e. people who just want to observe, run a few laps, learn a few things? |

I have seen AI cars and my own car have massive cartwheeling rollovers and land on their roof, then miraculously right themselves on four wheels and drive away, to continue racing. This is plainly unrealistic. How do i fix it, so that cars are out of the race DNF after massive rollovers?
I'm obsessive about realism, so what percentage should i set the damage multiplier and driver aggression levels to? 100%? |
