Will have to see what the weather is going to be like.

Seriously, this year (2024) must have been miserable. Cold and wet for both Sat and Sun.

The weather doesn't really matter. Despite my very specific weather order being completely ignored (I am in the process of typing a formal complaint...) it was a great event. Miserable? Not a bit. This is Le Mans. We don't do miserable at Le Mans.

Anywhere you can get a ticket....

The crucial thing is to be on the lookout for when the ticket sales start so you can jump in.

(or just pay a premium with an agency, which is what we do - I can recommend JustTickets)

As to where to camp, I'd start by looking at the Houx, Houx Annexe, Epinettes, Hippodrome area, as that's closer to the circuit than the likes of Beausejour.

I'm sorry I didn't make it over to say hello to you guys this year. It was a fantastic edition but despite being there for the longest time ever it went very quickly and I seemed to be all over the place and still short of time.
I did make it to the driver's parade this year which was a first for me (and probably last).
Plus we made a trackside on the Mulsanne again.
Other than that we pretty much based ourself in our grandstand (ACO) partly to do with the weather.
I got completely soaked at Tertre Rouge at about 1:00 a.m. on Saturday night and that was the decision for me to get the tram back to the town apartment where we stayed.
I'm hoping to stay in the same place next year.
I hope you all had a good weekend.

Thanks! I'm going round in circles...paralysis by analysis.

I think my friends are set on camping at the Porsche Curves as offered by the Motorsports Travel Destinations agency. The thought of an unreserved pitch is too much for them, is a pitch a Houx numbered or do you take your chances?

May I ask how much your package was? I'm finding it quite hard to get a rough cost as detail is sparse.

Porsche curves is very good but you don't get a reserved pitch. Your pitch is allocated upon arrival. The packages are for Thursday to Monday. You can pay an extra day for Wednesday arrival from 3pm but it can be expensive. There is no electric hook up but the track view is very good.

Houx is numbered.

If you are arriving Tuesday or Wednesday then I'd not be worried about the reserved plots.

If you are arriving Saturday morning it is worth it.

I saw lots of complaints about Travel Destinations this year, seemingly it is under new management. (including charging 'per day' for camping etc)

As for cost, I believe I paid around £400 for a half share in a camping pitch, entry and a grandstand seat in the ACO stand. It is that annoying time of year where everywhere has taken down their 2024 pricelists and not published the 2025 ones yet.

Yeah I just found the forum! That's put me very much off them now. Thanks for the info. That's great.

final question... which tribune? Sommer (T16) or Raccordment Motul (T23)?

I’ll be there so long as I didn’t wear out my welcome this year with my British and Dutch friends.

Would be my first time being there three years in a row. A bit more difficult and effort having to come over from across the pond.

There are always going to be people with their favourite grandstands. These days I sit in T17 (Durand) because I'm an ACO member and I like to have the 'creature comforts' that come with a seat in this stand, but as an amateur photographer I would always pick T34 (above the pits).

I've never sat in Sommer but it is next door to T17 and looks OK. Lagache (T19) on the other side I have sat in and it's fine. Personally I would avoid the grandstands that extend away from pit out as they really only have canopies above and depending on the way the wind is blowing, I imagine you could get a bit damp if there is any substantial non-sun.

T23 (Raccordement) is a mixed bag for me. Great view up the start/finish straight and the action at the chicane, but you need to sit as high up as you can, especially if you want to take photos or video as otherwise the fencing ruins the view. And don't get me started on the seats there - the most uncomfortable and cramped seats I've ever sat in at Le Mans! But others swear by T23.
