Anyone lse heard this? Been floating around lately that the 08 bodywork had been banned? Well, isn't that ALL the new stuff? I ask as i want to buy the newest KG Nose and nassau pannel and the Stilo pods but wont to first of all check they're still legal. It makes nooooo sense at all because i was at kimbolton on Sunday and everyone had it

No it is not banned at all. They are now starting to do checks on the ride height of the front and side pod's to see if its within the rules (dont ask me why)
The only thing i can imagine them banning them for/from is people who have the new CIK bodywork on the 'old' non CIK tested chassi's |

Ah that makes a lot more sense. I saw someone trying to use the Unico pods?? (The ones thata re used on Gillards) on the older L shaped bars and they didnt attach properly at the back and looked a bit risky.
Just out of interest, what style do people think look best on the sides? The Gillard style pods (flat sided) or the more sleak rounded ones which had been used on the Tony Karts? I can never remember which are Stilo and which Unico, think actualy Stilo maybe the Gillard style. asking as i could get either for my kart (Trulli) and probably will get it all in black |

*quote from the sheet of paper i got through from TKM super 1.
''scruitneers were checking the maximum height of bodywork. The current rule is simple, the old style sidepords and nose fairing should be no more than 40mm from the ground with the driver in the kart. The new 08 CIKsidepods are allowed 60mm. A new type nose on an old non-homologated front bumper is still 40mm, but 60mm if on a CIK front hoop. Next year it will be 60mm maximum for all types'' Hope this clears anything up? |

Don't reckon I'll be having much trouble with this one then, as I keep ripping the underside of nosecones off through them bottoming out (and stuff )

After some consideration, although i prefer the sleaker side pods i may go witht he flat sided 08 ones, just for the fact they look a lot harder for karts to climb over and they cover the wheels slightly better.
(Hey, i'm in Rotax, i have to think of this..! Unfortunately..) |
