Who would win races if F1 raced on super speedways ?
Just got this thought after reading Macdaddys post in another thread .
I know F1 would never run on a super speedway, but if they did ...what drivers would win ??? Im not talking about who has the best car/engine or anything like that , im just talking about which drivers would excel . I think the complete pecking order of F1 would be shaken up , because for all the mass of Talent that TGF has , im sure he isnt brave enough to race with drivers that are prepared to commit 100% to wheel to wheel racing at 220MPH + with out the use of team orders etc to give him a advantage .. im on about pure flat out racing here ! . I think Juan Pablo would shine along with surprise young drivers like Webber , Massa / Sato ( if he could keep it off the wall... ) . But im sure that the current best driver in the world would not still look like the best driver in the world after a few Super speedway races ? what do you think ? . JPM. He's the only one besides JV to have superspeedway experience. TGF wouldn't race because he's afraid.

We HAVE to speak about car/engines. Otherwise the thread shall be "Which F1 driver would win in CART". In identical cars I'd say that Montoya and maybe Villeneuve would have an advantage for a while, given their experience...

No....its not about engines.....its purely about which drivers out there have the commitment and ability and the bravery to race flat out without F1 comfot zones .

All comes down to the size of the jockstrap. I've seen JV and JPM race at Michigan, and Juan was absolutely stellar. No fear.

Surely he'd jump in the car and drive it in circles as fast as he can... I didn't say he would win though.
Besides, how can you say who is afraid of what? |

TGF has stated he'd never race on an oval. Meanwhile, guys like JPM and JV have AND WON.

i think its fair to say that certain drivers in F1 have got more commitment in their racing than others are . I watched a IRL race the other week , and Hornish and Sheckter were just awesome . Hornish went high around a backmarker between the car and the wall ..there must have been inches in it at god knows what speed ....thats what im talking about >>>RACING . We F1 fans seem to forget about what racing really means sometimes when we see TGF win a championship but rarley have to race someone hard for a entire race !.... whose gonna lift , and who's gonna keep it their foot flat ???...this is what im interested in. |

F1 hasn't been sport and/or racing for a long time now. Nowadays its 90 minutes of watching very fast billboards go by while their Nintendo-pilots make sure they don't make an error. Not that they actually do much driving except accelerate, brake and steer.

No. You made an assertion. It's your job to prove it, not mine. Mine is not to believe you.

What a load of tosh about Schumacher being scared, least it gave me a laugh anyway
Is this the same Michael Schumacher who has outmuscled Montoya several times wheel to wheel this season, the same Michael Schumacher who chops hard at the start Michael Schumacher is the toughest wheel to wheel racer in F1 its just that he has such an advantage at the moment he doesnt need to but when he does no one can live with him |

Williams and Juan Montoya easily.
The Schumacher brothers would probably stay at home. Jacques would have a crack at the win if the engine had enough power behind it. I am pretty sure guys like Trulli and Fisichella would do OK as well. |
