Speed events around the world
Just curious about speed events around the world. Obviously, I'm familiar with hillclimbs and sprints in Britain. Hillclimbs generally on narrow country type roads, sprints mixing similar with dedicated courses and full race circuits, but what goes on elsewhere?
I know there's something in the States with some pretty special vehicles, pictures of which suggest that they're more of the sprint car variety than open wheelers as predominate here. European events seem to be more open road type stuff, with several miles up the side of an Alp. Australia and New Zealand seem to be European type roads, but more rally and saloon. Then of course there's the jet sprint boats. Ok, not cars, but unquestionably speed eventing, and an awesome spectacle. Anyone care to enlighten me further? |
