2011 at TORA

A really nice video created by Dan Austins, showing off the kind of racing we have at TORA. Enjoy!

Right now we have a few series running, the 2011 ISCC, running LMP1, LMP2 and GT2 has kicked off, aswell as NGTC touring cars and Winter GT, but you can enter whenever you like!

www.theonlineracingassociation.com

There is even a Ten-Tenths team this year with Spudgun and TheFLC doing very well with some lovely cars. You also don't need to be super quick to have fun, theres plenty of good racing up and down the field in the various lobbies.

European ISCC Leg due to start soon! Plenty of cars available in LMP1, LMP2 and GT2! I'm also running a Race Pro mini series with the WTCC cars (in preparation for the UKOG main event later this year).

Also coming up is the new for 2011 GT1 Championship and the Grand Prix World Championship for those wanting to race with F1 2010. I will warn you though, there are some very quick F1 2010 specialists signed up.

Not too sure on whats happening later in the year, I would expect the popular Touring Cars to return among other things.

A second GT3 Championship, the US leg of ISCC, the S2000 touring cars as well as the continuing GPWC series are some of the things going on at TORA later in the year.
Oh and expect action on rFactor and Shift 2 Unleashed as well.

Ok, its almost time for the biggie, the.. what is it now 6th season of GT racing on TORA? Do you know for sure Matt?

Anyway, thats a trivial matter, what matters, is that TORA's most popular and most prestigious championship is starting this June, its the 2011 TORA GT Championship! A lot of effort has gone into the rules to keep the cars close in performance, and this years championship sees a large number of full team entrants contesting the TORA GT Teams Championship, and a field of Independant drivers all chasing the TORA GT Independent Championship. All drivers will be chasing the ultimate goal of winning the TORA GT Drivers Championship, which is the biggest prize in TORA, and has been won by some of TORA's best over the years. Clicky Clicky on the links below.

Rules/Regulations
Calendar
Entry/Cars

Also in full swing is the TORA Grand Prix World Championship, using F1 2010, and running the same weekends as the real F1 races, along with the same weather, and half race distances. Car selection is completely free and you can join whenever you want (just like any other TORA championship)

And coming up later in the year is another of TORA's original series, and one of the most popular, the TORA Touring Car Championship. More on that in the coming weeks though.

I can announce that I will personally be running a Touring Car Championship on Race Pro.

All you need is Race Pro, no DLC required, it will be starting Mid-June. The race night is yet to be decided.

Okaayyy! Saturday Night Stock Cars on TORA! Cup cars and Trucks, every Saturday night. All the information is in the link below!

http://forums.theonlineracingassocia...rza-3-xbox-360

And, also, out Touring Car season has kicked off with some pretty fired up racing at Maple Valley. The Touring Cars are heading to Silverstone National next week for rounds 4, 5 and 6. There are a couple of teams still looking for drivers, and you can also enter your own team, or enter on your own as a privateer. All the info is below.

http://forums.theonlineracingassocia...rza-3-xbox-360

And, our Grand Prix World Championship, which uses F1 2010 is still going on, with the next race at Spa-Francorchamps for the Belgian Grand Prix. Full damage, real weather, no driver aids and 50% race distances. Its a championship that probably goes overlooked at TORA, but its probably very fun for those with F1 2010!

Tonight at 20:00 BST, the brand new TORA website will be up and running. While you are waiting, have a read at what will be on offer during 2012.

We really do have everything, GT, Touring Car, F1, Sportscars (Both the 1-2 hour race ISCC and the 6-24 hour WEC races)

Quote:
2012 will see the return of TORA’s core series in much the same shape and form that was seen in 2011. We had a hugely successful year with regards to the technical side of our series in 2011 and so we will be continuing the trend throughout next year.

2012 TORA MSA International Sports Car Championship

The ISCC returns with the same multi-class structure established in 2011. Utilising the official game of the ALMS, Forza Motorsport 4 for the Xbox360, TORA brings back the exhilarating mutli-class series and now with the added bonus of 16 cars on track at once. With Prototypes and GT cars vying for position the racing is going to get hectic around some of the new tracks that will feature in the 2012 season. The ISCC will no longer be a year-long battle of endurance, but it will be split down into two localized series, Euro and American. The Euro series will travel to some of the classic TORA venues such as Silverstone, Le Mans and the Nurburgring whilst also visiting some brand new locations such as Hockenheim and the Alps. The American leg will travel the length and breadth of the USA visiting Indianapolis, Road Atlanta, Sebring and Infineon Raceway.

2012 TORA MSA GT3 Championship

After two hugely successful and closely contested series in 2011 the TORA GT returns once again. As the TORA GT is our premier series we will be putting all of our resources into the first 2012 series to make sure it is the closest and most varied championship of its type on Forza Motorsport 4. Each race meeting will once again consist of two thirty minute races which will be combined together to give you an overall score for the night. The championship will traverse the globe and test the driver’s skills around some of the world’s most famous race tracks. The cars for the first 2012 season will be designed to match their real life GT3 counterparts, meaning the cars will have a much closer power to weight ratio much like the real GT3 cars. As the cars are based on the real thing in terms of their technical regs, then the actual cars themselves must match the real thing as much as possible as well. Expect to take your pick from cars such as the McLaren MP4-12C, Ferrari 458, Mercedes SLS and BMW Z4. The benefit of Forza 4 is that it allows us to include cars that we unfortunately cannot see in real life; cars from manufacturers such as the Alfa Romeo, Lexus, RUF and many more. Look out for more details soon.

2012 TORA MSA Touring Car Championship

The TCC returns and once again follows the same tried and tested formula that has proven to create some of the best racing TORA has ever seen. Bumper to bumper, door handle to door handle and many a bashing of panels will return early in 2012 with a much longer season planned that will range from short to medium circuits testing both the handling ability and speed of each car. Expect to see the same FWD Turbo Production class cars return for the first season in 2012. Expect to see the Hondas, SEATs, VWs and many other car manufacturers battling it out in this closely contested championship. The TCC will utilize Forza Motorsport 4 once again as it proves to be the most adaptable and customizable platform for us to create this series from.

2012 TORA MSA World Endurance Series

During the TORA 24 at Le Mans in the summer the discussion came up throughout the event of running more real endurance tests and events throughout the year and possibly turning it into a small championship. So for 2012 TORA will be running the TORA World Endurance Series. This series will be open to teams of 5 drivers who compete in 2 hourly stints throughout the event and points will be awarded to the teams at the end of the event. There will be a number of races throughout the year and this series will mimic the most popular endurance races from real life. We kick things off with the Indianapolis 24, based on the Daytona 24 in early 2012 and the series will culminate in December 2012 with the finale around the Nurburgring for 24 hours of the green hell. There will be a variety of cars used throughout the year ranging from Grand-Am to Le Mans cars. More details to follow soon.

2012 TORA MSA Grand Prix World Championship

TORA’s take on Formula 1 returns once again for 2012 but after having such an up and down year in 2011 the series will be going through a major shake-up. No longer will the GPWC be held on Sunday nights and it will not follow the real Formula 1 season throughout the year. Instead it will be in much the same vein as the ISCC, two regional championships spread out over a number of months. We have not yet finalized details of this series yet but expect to hear news soon. The series will use the newly released F1 2011 on the Xbox360.

2012 TORA MSA TASCAR Cup

The TASCAR returned in mid-2011 to the elation of a number of members in our community. Based around a variety of oval and road courses, the TASCAR will once again become an official TORA championship in 2012 and hopes to benefit greatly from the increased number of available lobby positions in Forza Motorsports 4.

2012 Race Numbers

That’s right, TORA is re-introducing its official race numbers after a long absence. You will finally have your own personal numbers back to use in all future series within TORA from 2012 and beyond. The system has always proven itself to be the easiest and most user friendly numbering system for online racing leagues and it adds a certain personal touch to your online TORA presence. Our original members who had their personal numbers have first choice in retaining them, whereas the remainder are free to be chosen. Once you have requested your number and it has been confirmed, you will appear on the following list in green and you will then allowed to use your TORA numbers for all future series. Current series specific numbers will remain in place until the series is finished. Number choice is now open and information how to register can be found here.

http://forums.theonlineracingassocia...numbers#104406

New Home, New Website and TORA TV

In the upcoming months our home forums and our website will be going through some dramatic changes. Expect to see a new website in November which will cover not only current races, results, and archives, but we will have our all new ‘Team’ section where all the teams involved in TORA past and present will have their own dedicated sections of the website. We are also bringing back the much missed TORA TV that will not only be showing previews of the race series but full race highlights of selected rounds of the championship. Our forums will also be going through a much needed refresh. We will be saying goodbye to Forumotion and going down a much more modern and easier to use route which will create a much more social atmosphere within TORA. The plan is to retain all of our current posts and history within the current forums, but more details will be released soon.

TORAcast

TORAcast will once again return on a fortnightly basis and will be much more focused on our own home grown series. The podcast will also tie in a lot more closely with TORA TV.

2012 is looking very promising for us and these are our plans for the first half of the year. We will be making a special podcast tomorrow regarding these announcements. Feel free to ask any questions about our plans and we will asnwer them whilst recording the podcast tomorrow.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to seeing you guys on the track.

More racing tonight with the Ferrari 458 Challenge on Forza 4 and the next round of the GPWC on F1 2011 (I believe)

http://forums.theonlineracingassocia...-458-challenge
http://forums.theonlineracingassocia...-2011-xbox-360

Also coming up next week is the Trofeo Abarth on Tuesday and the inaugural round of the TORA Formula 500 championship on Thursday, which pits Germany and Japan into battle between the four DTM cars (A4, TT, Astra, C-Klasse) against five Super GT cars (R34, R35, Supra, NSX, SC300)

http://forums.theonlineracingassocia...rophy-season-2
http://forums.theonlineracingassocia...sa-forumla-500

This weeks news regards the controversial disqualification from the final race of this years Touring Cars, which sees ATR Honda's ATR Dan stripped of 50 points, giving myself (nickyf1) the title, by just 1 point to M&M racing's IanMR.

Last weeks Troefeo Abarth meeting at the Hockenheimring in Germany saw plenty more controversy, with two drivers being penalised for dangerous driving. CMGraphix has been given a warning for impeding FrachittiFan on a restart, and FranchittiFan himself has been DQ'd from the third race of the meeting for breaking the sporting rules 10 times in one race. He has also been given a suspended penalty/warning for overuse of the tarmac run-off area at Turn 1.

For the next round of the Abarth's, damage will be turned on to discourage the sort of driving that a small minority of drivers have been deploying recently. Normal service (clean racing..) should resume tonight in the 458's, which were good fun last weekend.

Also, check out TORA TV for race clips and such!

GT24 starts TONIGHT at Hockenheim in Germany, and it's the biggest entry we've had so far on Forza 4, we are currently looking at a 29 driver entry list, with 8 teams and 11 private entries! There are many new members making their debut's tonight, so it should be very good fun indeed!

GT24 - http://forums.theonlineracingassocia...rza-4-xbox-360

Also announced is our ''Winter'' Intercontinental Sports Car Championship, which will be running our planned rules for next years proper ISCC with three classes:
LMP - Le Mans Prototypes at the top of R1 Class, a combined class of pure LMP1 machines and upgraded LMP2 and LMPC machinery, making the largest carlist we have ever had for LMP. Expect to see Audi's, Peugeot's, Lola's, Oreca's and more!
LMPC - The Oreca FLM car makes it's TORA debut! A Single make class, designed for newcomers and drivers who want to do Prototype racing, but perhaps don't want to go straight into the LMP deep-end.
GTE - Production based GT2 and GT3 cars from the mid-R3 class range, with makes like BMW, Audi, Jaguar, Ford, Lotus, Dodge and Panoz.
