iso connection problems
Bought a cd player for my car today. Just a cheep £50 thing from argos.
I've fitted one beofre and just clipped the iso in as usual But this time, the player got no power, the central locking and the clock on the dash went down but the car starts and runs fine. I'v checked the fuse etc and it's fine. I have a citreoen saxo sx diesel 1996 p reg. anyonw know what's wrong? |

don't think so. I've took the cd player back and got a refund but now i've reinstalled the old original citroen cassette radio. Now though this always ask for a code when the car is switched off, the central locking still doesn't work and the clock won't work too. the original citroen cassette radio is getting power and working but the cd player i bought never got power at al

It does sound as though you've blown a fuse or a relay somewhere.
Most radios need two power supplies, one which is permanently on to maintain memory settings & a switched supply, only on when the ignition is on. If I read it correctly, you're saying that the original unit now asks for the code every time you switch on? If so, that's a sure sign that you've lost the permanent feed. Saxo wiring will, I believe, be the same as a Peugeot 106; if so, look at fuse 8 in the fusebox in the passenger compartment - that protects radio memory, central locking, luggage/interior light & infra-red signal receiver. The problem with ISO connectors is that different car & radio manufacturers appear to use different pins for the live feeds! |

Use a continuity tester on the fuse if you can, sometimes they look fine when they're not.
