Another Cause of Burti's Accident

Did you all notice on the TV coverage that when Burti was flying through the gravel that - that is what caused the right front tyre to completely snap off the car thus not allowing Burti any slight chance of trying to turn the car sideways into the tyre wall and causing a smaller impact.

I say bring in concrete run off areas that are angle at 15° upward to drastically slow down the cars, had we had that in SPA yesterday I reckon that burti would have hit at 80km/h and not 280km/h.

ANYWAY CHANEEL 9 AUSTRALIA SUX !!!! how can they show such neglegance at a sport which is the 3rd most popular in the world.

Regards
The Wog !!!

What caused Burti to go flying through the gravel pit was the fact that his front wing was under his nosecone and when he hit the gravel it sent him flying, the front wing must of snapped the right wheels direction because the wheel was just hanging there going in all directions. Well thats my take on it. Will have to wait to see what really happened.

I think Irvines Jaguar may have played a part in breaking the suspension.

That's an interesting suggestion, can't say I've ever heard of such an idea before. It would certainly reduce the speed at the point of impact, but on the other hand could make it worse as the cars would slide down again and perhaps into the path of other cars arriving at full speed. Still, an interesting thought, and perhaps feasible it it's done in the best possible way. (Like having some gravel at the "top" of that run off area in order to hopefully "catch" the cars and not allow them to slide down on the track again?) Interesting perspective.
