Talking of images, i wonder if any of you could help. I was at brands a couple of weeks ago and took a few pictures of a triumph Vittese #95 driven by Leigh Parkes. i wrote down his name, address, ect and told him i would send him a couple of pics, well being absent minded i have lost it and would be gratefull to anyone if they know his contact details, so i can send them to him. I know he lived in Sutton and the road was "ROSE" something. Many Thanks.

This deserves a thread in its own right. I've seen the car in question, and it's certainly a distinctive sight amongst the Mini Coopers and Cortinas of the historic saloon fraternity.

Thanks for the interest! It's certainly entertaining to drive and always seems to receive a lot of attention in the paddock (normally of the you must be mad to drive that variety!).

Leigh. Where you at Spa in 2000? I recall a white Vitesse there in the "Sideways" race.
BTW. Welcome to the forum. |

Yes, that was me. Wasn't that the year the race ran under yellow flags after the TVR and Turner crashed at Pouhon?

Leigh,
Do you race the Vitesse at Lydden Hill? I was there on 14/07 and 04/08 and am sure I was in a race with a White Vitesse? surely that must have been you. I was racing a Light Blue Fiesta 1400 with Daniels Motorsport. |

Yes, that would be me! We were there on Sat (7/9) as well, playing with the BMW M3s.

Hi pauldavid, how long have you owned the car? Is this the one that was advertised in motorsport news last year with a 2.5l straight six ? Certainly looks good, you should join the CTCRC Classic Touring Car class (in Classic Thunder) Sorry for the blatant marketing move........

Yes, it was in Motorsport News. I decided not to sell it (too much fun!) It was, in fact, built for Classic Touring Cars in 1993. Unfortunately the Lotus Cortinas & BMWs developed a lot more over the next 2/3 years so it became uncompetitive. I presume it would still be eligible for the CTCRC.

Aha so you kept it, excellent. Well the Classic Thunder series is now in its third full season running as a championship. This is broadly split into two 1/2's (as you can see on the club page) in 2000 and 2001 there were 16& 18 cars/drivers who competed in Classic Touring Cars (excluding the more modern machinary)but sadly the number has dwindled dramatically this year to about half a dozen, only 1 Lotus Cortina and a handful on Anglias regularly competing - no BMW's that would be in your class - the rest of the grid is made up of slightly more modern (1970-1984ish) cars, you would be very, very welcome to come back - and lets face it - 'competitive' is relative there is always someone to do battle with, even if they are not in your class or category, there are only two rounds left, Cadwell this w/e and OP a fortnight later but there is a track day at Mallory and possibly some winter racing in Oct/Nov so it's at least worth taking another look, go on go on go on........you know you want to.......
