Honda third driver 2006

It looks like James Rossiter will be Honda's third driver in 2006, according to www.grandprix.com

N I Tram should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Can this be taken as confirmation of a 2nd Honda team for Sato and Davidson?

Confirmation, no, but it seems things are very definitely falling into place

maltafan has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
The fact that Honda have confirmed Rossiter as their 3rd driver means that they will 99% be in F1 with their second team too next year, unless Sato goes to Midland and AD is let go.

Precisely maltafan - they would not choose Rossiter in preference to Sato or Ant. Good news for Rossiter to have a chance to shine anyway.

I'm curious as to what happened to Rossiter in the F3 euro-series. He had such a strong start at the very beginning and after monaco it was a downward spiral.

I think that he ultimately finished behind his team-mate.

Despite the ASM domination I think that Signature had the speed to fight for podiums.

Its like he just lost motivation.

Has Rossiter effectively leap-frogged Carroll in Honda's affections? Or is it more of a case of Carroll beign more likely to win GP2 and thus boost his long-term chances, than Rossiter of winning F3? The other (outside) possibility is that either Taku or Ant will race elsewhere, and Carroll would race for Honda 2?

It was announced a few months ago Carroll would stay at Supernova unless he had an F1 seat, so with him doing that, giving Rossiter the third drive is a good way to give him experience too.

Gut instinct tells me Rossiter has more potential of the two!

i do not think rossiter will be honda 3rd driver neither do i think he has more potential than caroll. if honda are taking this b-team idea on then maybe he can serve as a test driver for that. if not i beleive he will front super nova in f3000. carroll will partner davidson in the b-team with mr-t, excuse me, bernoldi serving as test driver for the a-team.

rossiter and carroll along with hamilton and green are part of a british racing drivers revival but i personally rate hamilton and carroll as the 2 that are the brightest lights.

2 points here.

1) It's GP2 now, not F3000

2) If there is a Honda B team, Sato will have one of the seats

if sato and davidson make up hondaB as originally thought then expect either carroll, van der merve or bernoldi to have the third driver role at hondaA. i do not expect the grandprix.com article is true.

i keep forgetting gp2 as the name. sounds amazing because gp2 races have been a treat to the eyes all season and you would think i would have remembered the name by now!!!

regrards.

I expect the grandprix.com story is based on a lot of truth - but time will tell
