single seater tub
The BARC HQ rescue crew are currently in search of a single seater tub on which to practice driver extrication.
Is anyone aware of where we could lay hands on one? A scrap tub would be ok. |

We might be able to help out on this one. Give me a day or so and I'll see what I can sort out. Would be interested to see the demo too as a single seater driver!

From what I hear it's not a very big stick at all!
Mind you Stephen, you can be my friend for using the word 'hunky'!!!!!! I'm more used to being described as 'chunky'! |

No Need to be polite to TT and darrell - they're both big boys - they can take it!!
When it's not being used can we use the tub to train for the next winter olympics - Craner Curves would be ideal for a bit of 2 man bob training! |

Have you seen some of the BARC crew they would only get two in a four man bob and no chance of fitting them in a single seater let alone extricating them afterwards.

Back to the single seater. Ideally if we can obtain a damaged tub then we can store it at Thruxton and can then practice whenever we get the opportunity. We have already obtained two saloon car shells with cages(a Laguna and an Accord) but rarely get the chance to practice on a single seater.
Most tend to be on short term loan (Jordan very kindly let the GP extrication teams practice on one of their cars and have also lent the tub Martin Brundle crashed in Aus) but what we would like is the opportunity to practice on the morning of a meeting when everyone is together. Most drivers would not appreciate us crawling all over their cars and ripping pieces off before they get to race! |

Not having much luck with a tub - most of ours are worth too much! Perhaps Jonathan Palmer's outfit up at Bedford may have one for you - we were up there a few weeks back and they have a massive workshop with heaps of stuff...

I work as an instructor at Palmersport and I doubt that they have what you are looking for. Even if they had, they would keep it because they would be using it. Everything Palmersport has there we use. You can still try though, but don't get your hopes up, you might face a heavy price if thjey say yes.

The way the Palmer boys normally race there's bound to be at least one scrap car at the end of the year.

Darrell,
We're at Brands for the BTCC/F3/GT weekend, there will be at least one scrap tub from either FFord or FRenault after that surely! We could just stick it in the back of ne of the Rescue Units! |

Send a mail to Paul Heavey from the contact page of the site www.leastone-racing.com. I know that he has an old Formula Vee chassis sitting in his yard. Its only slightly twisted and will never be used for racing again. Should be OK for extraction training though.

Sounds like the tub is getting closer. More later, lots on my mind, read on.
Have to say it. Need your help. We lost a good friend on Monday night, Chris Clark, in a mysterious (police word not ours) motorbike accident, involving a fatal hit and run by a 4x4 at Midhurst, WSx. Chris was a great guy who worked in our motorsport business and lived, partied and raced with us. Never took chances and rode 1000s of miles on his bright yellow Daytona. Such a waste of a life - only 25. So if you hear of anything regarding repairs to a 4x4 in the next few days in the south east, gossip, etc please let us know so we can pass the info on and catch the callous ****er who left him there. How can another human being do that? Spread the word. So stunned... |

I'm so sorry to hear the bad news. Will keep my eyes peeled as I live on the Kent Sussex borders.
