Wish we got all of these rainy weekends pre-DPI era. Would have made the races from 14-16 more interesting like the 2015 Petit.

The worst thing if there is rain during the race is guaranteed safety car periods. Probably makes Cadillac the favorite to win DPI as well. If you get dry then look for Acura to win maybe 2 races (DPI and GTD). Ford looks like the strongest GT car in the rain right now.

I'll be there! Forecast for Sunday looks perfect. Mid to upper 60's and sunny.

Did anybody notice that the Lexus GT3 is 35 kg heavier and with a smaller air restrictor compared to its configuration at Mid-Ohio last year? If you don't hunt it down and kill it, it will hunt you down and kill you.

Either conditions for FP1 were atrocious or even the new Michelin rain tires aren't a huge help, because JPM (Acura DPI) was just two-thirds of a second quicker than Bamber (Porsche 911 GTLM) in the overall rankings for session 1.

I wouldn't read too much in to a rain soaked practice session, plus mechanical grip plays more of a role in these conditions. Hopefully the afternoon session will be slightly drier.

Rain may clear up in time for Saturday and Sunday, but it'll still be cold (at least compared to a couple of days ago).

I think that may've been why in the ALMS days that the race often was held in July, though I can tell you it was insanely hot when I went there in '08 and still got rained on in a massive thunderstorm (I didn't go to the ALMS race itself, but to the IMSA demo event the day after before the Indy Car race). 2011's race was also plagued by a nasty storm that got the race stopped a few minutes before the intended finish due to a flooded track.

Still I am surprised (pleasantly) that the classes are so close together in the rain still. We are not dealing with Daytona Protos on Conti tires anymore.

Yeah, I was there for the 2017 Indycar race in late July and it was pretty hot and humid. Upper 60's and sunny will be a nice change!

Both Castroneves and Barbosa's cars are visibly damaged. I can't see anything on the #55 yet.

Pilet called for an obvious jump-start.
